1/37 * 35 - 36/37 * 1 = -0.027

2/37 * 17 - 35/37 * 1 = -0.027

At least that's how I'm assuming roulette works, sometimes there are two 0s I think? Same result with slightly different numbers, either way.

ETA: As for why you're confused, I think it's because of the murican way of displaying odds. 17:1 is 1 in 18, 35:1 is 1 in 36.

Imagine putting two chips on a split. It hits, 34+2=36. Now take those two chips, and place on those two numbers, but straight up. One hits, 35+1=36. Whole game is that, except for the quint bet.

KP,

It's just math and numbers.

Gotta give credits to whole foods...

Thinking about a four digit wheel where one number pays 3:1 but a split would obviously pay 1:1 math checks out.

Still don't fully fundamentally understand why but whatever math is for nerds.

FMP.

If you bet on one number in a four digit wheel, you should get paid 1 time in 4 to break even.

If you bet on two numbers in a four digit wheel, you should get paid 1 time in 2 to break even.

K,

To put what Fabian's saying another way, you put $1 on one number and you get back $36 when you win at 35:1 odds.

You put $1 on two numbers and you hit twice as often, so you get half the money back when you win, $18. Which is how much you get paid back for $1 at 17:1 odds.

Yeah that makes sense.

Word. Putting $10 on a numbers in honor of this revelation.

]A Duck boat killed a woman on a scooter over the weekend. Some people are out to ban them. Right now the company line is that they have an exemplary record.

Why are these monstrositys allowed on the street?

I just double posted so I deleted one, but if I just leave a deleted post there it looks like I went hard at duck boats.

I think I'm gonna dk-ban the deleted posts from showing up

Oh, remember when I said that?

Big,

Yep, I remember when you tried to say that!

I've never actually blocked a single post before

thread blocking has been out of control recently tho. I'm down to just 8 visible SE threads

i know it's been explained five different ways now, but:

17:1 = 1/18 shot
35:1 = 1/36 shot

She got rear-ended at a red light apparently. He ran her right over, pretty gruesome.
