The same process one would undertake when entertaining retaining a paid employee for said volunteer position.

i agree it's pretty disgusting how much money mason left on the table over the years. i mean even if he didn't care about getting rich he could have used all that dough to save so many pets and random strangers. he's basically a mass murderer.

Mat - how many years are you going to get in the slammer for being an accessory to Mason's mass murdering ways due to his failure to properly monetize the 2p2 asset? Are you considering any plea deals?

Mason worked full time on the publishing business and wasn't too knowledgeable about tech stuff. Expanding 2+2 online would have required hiring more staff, learning about a new industry, and working a lot of extra hours to oversee the development of the new stuff, and then a lot of the new revenue would have gone into the extra salary and overhead expenses rather than into his pocket. Considering where he was at in life already, it's understandable why he didn't pursue it.

Mat,

Thanks to you and the rest of the 2+2 staff. This place is special and I just get nostalgic thinking about life before Black Friday. 4 Party tables open on one screen, 2+2 on another, and just having a blast.

My only contact with you was when I tried to get back in to my old account so I could update my old "Ask Me" threads, Even though my attempts were unsuccessful, I thank you for attempting to help me out.

Let's hope those pictures are lost to the sands of time.

Mason is a wise old dog, IMO.

There is always this to consider, also:

The forums were created to get "free" advertising for their publishing company. That was and still is their main focus.

The forums are an afterthought.

Well, they certainly made a fortune off an afterthought by accepting advertising dollars from others.

Never said they didn't make a **** load of money.

It's just obvious that the forum was created to get poker players to join so 2+2 Publishing could make more money.

The only thing I can think of that had just as much wasted potential as 2+2 is Lawrence Phillips' football career.

Lawrence Phillips sucked. Off field didn't matter. He was a ho hum backup quality back at the NFL level.

Thoughts Mat?

When you're holding onto a hot potato, you probably should either run with it or hand it off, imo.
