I've never been either, but you must go for this:

Upon request, Long John Silver's will give you a free box of the chunks of fried breading that have fallen off all the shrimp and fish and never made it to other customers' meals. Just ask for “a side of fried crumbs” and the server should know what you mean.

Side of Crumbs - This is a (Free!) box of fried batter parts that have fallen off the fried fish or chicken. Great to put on top of salads.

Honestly this just sounds disgusting, but I can see how using it as a salad topping might be good. Make no mistake, I love fried stuff, but I love mayonnaise on sandwiches/burgers too and eating a spoonful of it sounds horrible.

Re: New fast food discussion/review thread
I eat fast food a lot and it's almost always Chipotle, Sonic, Wendy's or McD's. I guess I was blessed to not enjoy sour cream. Barbacoa burrito with fajita veggies, beans, salsa, cheese and lettuce (my standard) is about 800 calories. Not awful for a fast food selection. And incredibly tasty.
Sonic's double cheeseburger is a ****ing gem. I go there for the cheesy tots but that burger is definitely edible. I'd put it up with the Wendy's classic double just under the best ff burgers (in n out, 5guys, fudruckers.) Their footlong coney is a beast of a hot dog. Not particularly enjoyable going down or coming out imo.
McD's is tough for me because I always want way more food than I should eat. I'm not a fry eater so I usually end up with a big mac, nuggets, and a drink and it's like 10 bucks. I'd rather pay chipotle prices for chipotle food.

Re: New fast food discussion/review thread
I'm surprised Carl's Jr. is never mentioned. One of the tastiest burgers out there!
McD-Only for Big Mac and fries. Otherwise, better alternatives for everything else.
Burger King-The double stacker, avoiding everything else.
5 guys-Tried it once. Fries were burnt. Burger was average at best (note: I ordered a single patty but when I tipped a dollar, they upgraded to a double. Don't know whether thats customary or not).
Wendy's-go for the spicy chicken and the baconator. Fries are gross though.
Sonics-Go for the BLT and footlong hotdog. Hate that they fill your drink with nothing but ice resulting in a route 44 containing a total of 12 oz of soda.
Chick-fil-a-i'm one of those people that hate chick-fil-a. Hate the waffle fries and their bland chicken sandwiches. Rather have a KFC chicken sandwich with potato wedges.

I'd like to hear more of your thoughts on this... I've eaten one Carl's Jr burger in my life. I can't recall which burger it was (this was years ago) - but it was *delicious* - I was also ravenous at the time (lol drunk).

Re: New fast food discussion/review thread
Carl's Jr. is Hardee's on the East Coast (I think that's common knowledge but maybe not?) I think they have more or less the same menu. And yes, very good for fast food burgers. Their new chicken strips are the gold standard of the genre as well, imo.

Re: New fast food discussion/review thread
Culver's Reuben and Taco Bell are my go to fast foods these days.
Taco Bell: Why can't I just get a beef burrito supreme? Sure, I can request that you leave the beans off, but would it kill you to have one on the menu?
Pertinent to this thread: Did anyone catch America's Next Great Restaurant?
Premiered last night. Four investors picked 10 finalists with a chance to open three locations of a new chain restaurant, Hollywood, Minneapolis and New York. I'm pulling for grilled sandwiches, if they can find a way to make them crispy on the outside.

First, I disagree with this assessment, but I get it. Sometimes the double burger can be too "meaty". This is a major problem at NYC's Shake Shack,so I just order 2 single patty burgers and am a happy fatty.

Wow Al. Someday that happy little star will make its way to NYC. Carls.
Edit: Al, I guess I need to update my 2006 burger rankings, but I've pretty much been a slave to 5 Guys and Shake Shack in the last few years, and due to the reduction of Taco Bell franchises in Manhattan I haven't touched traditional fast food in a very long time.

Re: New fast food discussion/review thread
lol, I'll have to give Carl's Jr a try at some point - and I think everything I know about fast food chains is seriously from OOT threads.

I always get the original which happens to be the best. It consists of a patty, american cheese, tomato, lettuce, ketchup, and mayo. Though Burger king's Whopper is of similar ingredients, in terms of taste, Carl's Jr burger is miles ahead. There also is a Jalapeno version which is good too.

Re: New fast food discussion/review thread
if you live in the OC area you have to try Big Mike's. No exaggeration when I say it's the best burger I've ever tasted. bacon, egg, sausages, toasted bread, i'm getting hungry just thinking about it.

Mused - that a chain? If so, never heard of it (I live in LA).
