I think Sonic just makes national ad buys. I've been seeing ads for years and the closest is like 2 hours away. It works too- I want to go to there.

That's what it was like in Massachusetts until they finally put one on Route 1 a couple of years ago.

For more than a decade Massachusetts has carried ads for places that had few if any in state locations. Besides Sonic, there's Little Caesars, Papa John's, and Popeyes, each of which has a dozen or fewer spots in Massachusetts. And I'm probably forgetting other places.

But now that there actually is a Sonic here, I think CiCi's pizza has replaced it as the place for which you see tons of ads but literally has no restaurants in even the near vicinity.

Can't recall seeing any CiCi's ads (yet).

have seen a Little Ceasers " $5 hot and ready" ad twice in the past couple days though. There is one 1/2 an hour away from me.

Someone stated on 2p2 at some time in the past that they seem to saturate areas with ads before adding locations. That happened with the puyallup and bellinghamish locations that were added a year or two ago. I don't know that they will add any closer to the city but it isn't like either of those locations have a different TV market than Seattle.

FWIW i tried one of them on the way to vancouver and the other on the way to mt rainier and Sonic sucks and you aren't missing anything. Ok the drinks are decent sugar bombs and the hot dogs aren't terrible and tots are nice but you can get better tots in Seattle.

the drinks are THE reason you go to sonic. slushes are sick imo, and for you dieters the diet cherry limeade is great. half price drinks 2-4, happy hour(s)!

Only been to Sonic once (review posted ITT) but I thought the regular cherry limeade was meh. Just my opinion though!

Sonic sucks ass. I've never experimented with the drinks, but the only menu item that's worth getting is the super sonic cheeseburger. The chicken bites, tater tots, hot dogs, and whatever else I've tried have sucked.

Had BK for breakfast today and it was turrible. Plus the manager dude looked like it was dressup as Mike Ditka day.

I think i've had a milk shake and a slush. Milk shake was ok, slush was pretty good. But i want good food with a good drink and they don't have both. Maybe it is worth it in the summer when it is hot and a slush and a decent hot dog is a pretty great combination.
