comparing panda express vs 'chinese food' probably isn't a fair comparison.

panda has some of the same menu items you'd find at chinese takeout - but chinese fast food and chinese takeout aren't really the same category of restaurant so direct comparisons aren't necessarily appropriate.

it would be like comparing a mcdonalds cheeseburger vs a cheeseburger on the menu at chilis. you can compare them if you want, but the result probably isnt really relevant to your decision of where to eat since you dont usually find yourself choosing between mcdonalds vs chilis.

similarly, panda is probably better compared against sbarro or something even though the menus are different, simply because you are most likely to find these two in the same food court and have a choice between them.

Just heard Huddle House is opening some locations near me. I have never been. Same as Waffle House? Better? Worse?

I think panda is closer to generic Chinese American restaurants than any other fast food->real food comparison

Just tried the big tasty from mcds for the first time. Got it at 5.30 pm after only having a slice of toast today so was in the mood for a big meal. My normal order from McDonald's is a double cheeseburger which I find is not quite enough to fill me up but has a better meat to bun ratio than the 1/4 pounder with cheese. This had much the same problem. At 800 cals it was more than enough food but I think it would be much better with a thicker patte and a smaller bun. The sauce was decent enough but there was about 50% too much of it, it was absolutely slathered in it. Also it was only just the right side of warm. Got medium chips with it which were fine. Overall I'd give it a 5/10. Not bad but I'd rather have had 1100 cals worth of pizza. I wish McDonald's still did the triple cheeseburger in the UK.

Big tasty plus double cheeseburger minus top and bottom bun equals triple tasty burger?

Panda Express was created as a spin off of a group traditional chinese restaurants from Southern California called Panda Inn.

The orange chicken from Panda Express tastes exactly like the Panda Inn version.

Not really. I like McDonald's hamburgers. Clearly so does most of the rest of the world, given their success. I like Sbarro's too. I don't like Panda Ex. The fried rice was okay, the "chicken" was not.

Maybe I was lucky before. I lived near a chinese fast food place. In fact it even said "chinese fast food" on the front. I almost never eat in a restaurant, less than 10 times a year.

Had a Subway coupon for BOGO 6" when you buy a drink, so I got the seared brisket melt, and it was fantastic.

For those who think Subway is trash, I suspect you aren't taking full advantage of all of the veggie / sauce options. For example, I got Southwest Sauce + Chipotle BBQ sauce on mine, along with things like jalapeno peppers, and it's that extra mix of spice and flavor that makes me like their sandwiches.

Thanks guys. I like IHOP and Perkins equally well for the most part.

Ordered a box at Taco Bell. Asked if I wanted sauce and I said fire. She hands me the box with the sauce balanced on top. Wtf

The local Little Squeezers may be the busiest one in the world. Half the time they have nothing Hot N Ready because people buy it as fast as they can make it. This is not really a big town either.

Interesting take; I'd say Panda is pretty clearly heads and shoulders above those places and stands up favorably versus cheap Chinese takeout but to each their own.

Just went to Jack and had a bacon ultimate cheeseburger. Pretty naughty sandwich.

So today that's Taco Bell for breakfast, A&W for lunch, and Jack for dinner. Blegh

The best part about the Ferguson unrest/riots is that they burned down the Little Caesars.

Cheesy Bean + Rice Burrito is still my favorite way to spend $1 on a meal. I could probably eat two a day and be fine for a month.

Local Chinese here never want to raise prices so it's at the point where you get tons of crappy rice and almost no meat with a lunch takeout order.
