The smokehouse brisket sandwich is one of my favorite fast food items. So this seems relevant to my interests.

Nah, I was (poorly) trying to convey that I maybe could see froegg's disdain for Culver's hamburgers if got he plain or plain-ish burgers, which are relatively mediocre. Otherwise, Culver's burgers are excellent imo.

I think maybe the fries are a regional thing? In the DC area, the fries I got from them were always soggy and gross.

The first time I had them they were like this and I didn't get why people liked the place

5G fries remind me of when my dad when cut up potatoes and make batches of fries in our old deep fryer.

They aren't crispy but I don't find them "soggy and gross." I guess it depends on what you're looking for in a fry. I really enjoy 5G fries.

I've eaten the fries in a few states - they are all the same. Fresh cuts fries not frozen ..you either like them or not.

not sure why the pictures would make you feel uncomfortable. pork belly is essentially a thicker, meatier, fattier cut of bacon. who doesn't like bacon? i'm pretty sure it doesn't arrive at the restaurant in liquid form.

arby's brisket is beef, not pork. not saying you won't like the pork belly, but the brisket comes from a different type of animal.

and i'm also on the 5G fries being pretty much meh. i like my fries with a crispy exterior and fluffy interior (doesn't matter if steak cut, shoestring, crinkle cut, or any other variation). 5G fries are just limp...not saying cajun fries don't have a good flavor, they just have less than optimal texture.

Agree with this, think they taste like fresh cut potatoes more than anything, though I do prefer a crispier fry in general. Soggy implies wetness, which I haven't experienced (thankfully). My wife hates mushy fries but she can get down with 5G

I was pretty underwhelmed by the bacon stuffed crust so probably won't bother trying this. Of course it could be that the local Hut really sucks but I haven't been impressed with anything they've rolled out in years.

If any active poster from this thread (no randoms) wants to buy an Olive Garden Never Ending Pasta pass send me a PM...

I just got an email from Olive Garden with a web link to buy one pass. It's $100+tax paid to Olive Garden. I'm not going to use the link.

The deal runs from Oct 3rd for 7 weeks. No take out. Includes unlimited pasta, choice of chicken, sausage or meatballs, salad, bread sticks and a soda.

Please don't resale the link, I want it to go to some 2+2er that could use it and at least post about the experience for us.

yeah, the original stuffed cheese was true ff genius but that was like 25 years ago now. These new incarnations seem like lipstick on a pig, plus they're up around $13 bucks now, add tax delivery tip, that's a 20 buck fancy-ass chain pizza, no thanks.

I agree that I was not impressed with the bacon stuffed crust, it didn't really taste much different than the regular stuffed crust.

The grilled-cheese version is quite different though. There is different cheese on the inside which I was kind of neutral about, but the outside of the crust was the best part to me. The butter sauce and added bread crumbs on the outside were delicious. It really tasted like bread from a perfect grilled cheese sandwich with plenty of cheese inside.

I wouldn't think of it like a traditional stuffed crust, think of it as a pizza but instead of crust there is a grilled cheese sandwich, it really lives up to the name in my opinion

But... honestly it sounds like it would be just as good to get a pepperoni pizza and just eat a grilled cheese sandwich on the side.

No thanks regardless.

It's like if they found some concoction to where a bowl of cereal was involved with your blizzard.

No, I'm good. Cereal is pretty easy on it's own thanks.

I'll think about that pasta pass. However in general I don't like going to that kind of place by myself. For some reason I don't mind doing a buffet alone, but sit down places where you order off a menu, not so much.

I'd read a blog documenting a man's (or woman's) 7 week journey of the Never Ending Pasta Pass. I can only imagine it would begin with excitement and fervor, florid descriptions of the dishes and tastes, crisp photos of the entrees (have the items on the table been professionally arranged and lit?). As the trips to OG deteriorate from events to requirements to slogs, so to would plummet the participant's attitude and general life expectations. A depressing, daily battle between a self-loathing, self-induced malaise combo and the counter of financial obligation and an increasingly vague sense of accomplishment in completeness. Meal descriptions that previously required frequent thesaurus references are replaced by half-hearted attempts at conveying the difficulty of holding back both acrid alfredo burps and tears. It's no fun anymore, this, this thing. Pictures of the food are shoddy and unfocused, appearing almost accidental. It's unclear if the drives home from OG are the most depressing or serene times of the day because of your (blissful?) bloated numbness. One time, you hit a guy and just kept driving, kept driving. With the added pounds, your literal presence in this world has certainly increased, but God (hello?) knows your impact has diminished. Acne is back, you avoid all reflective surfaces. Is that the phone? No? Maybe you should get a dog. You remind yourself there are vacations other than driving a couple towns over to a different OG. As the final day approaches, you consider it a coin flip between what is more welcome: that final bite of NOODLE AND SAUCE, or the sweet release that death brings.
