****! Its national cheeseburger day and my dumb ass just wolfed down a habanero griller and a beefy potato burrito (no sour cream). Delicious.

I had no idea it was National Cheeseburger Day, it's not on my wall calendar. Thanks for the heads up.

I'm almost quite certain this was the case in the last few months. Either way, I have not had a cheeseburger today, and that is bad.

Anyone have frozen dinner recommendations? I've only had them a handful of times in my life and it's probably been 10+ years due to awful experiences but surely there has to be a brand out there that's making an edible product. I keep seeing them at the grocery store for $1-$3 and am tempted to give them a try but even for a $1 they seem overpriced from what I remember. I did some googling and couldn't find any positive reviews but came here as a last resort, thoughts?

Hungry Man! Google for the varieties. Not a dollar though. TV dinners haven't been under a dollar since the 70's other than the most basic types.

For Mexican, El Charrito are pretty good and cheap, too..

Oh, and don't nuke them. Bake in the oven.

They're sure not haute cuisine but some of them are ok. Marie Callender's and Boston Market ones are a step above the dollar Banquet ones, which should be avoided. Also Stouffer's mac and cheese and lasagna entrees are both great value at around $2.75.

Not really a frozen dinner but I'm a sucker for those frozen El Monterey burritos. I know they are horrible in theory but smashing a couple of the green chili beef ones when drunk does the job

Are Banquets the Burger King of frozen dinners?

Thanks for the recommendations! I'm going grocery shopping tomorrow and will pick up one of each mentioned here.

And yeah, i'm definitely not expecting the best meal of my life, just hoping for something I don't have to choke down that's simple to prepare. Also I've never thought of putting them in the oven instead of the microwave, i'm sure that makes a noticeable improvement on the taste. Thanks again!

There are a few stouffers flavors I like a lot. Rigatoni with chicken, lasagna, and fried chicken.

Their lasagna is pretty darn good imo, better than many Italian joints that tend to go too heavy on ricotta

You cant beat Michelina's Frozen meals for around a Dollar

Best Value in the frozen food section

Some of them are relatively healthy

You do need to pound a few of them to fill up

I don't expect quality from frozen dinners so I just go for volume and buy Oncor when it is on sale.

STM,

I ate about a million of those michelinas meals high stakes mentions when I was young and poor. Solid stuff.

http://www.michaelangelos.com michaelangelos lasagnas are really good, way better than the other stuff I've tried that has been mentioned.

Whoever mentioned baking instead of microwave is 100% right.

I think trader joes frozen meals are prob the best bang for your buck. Lots of really tasty stuff pretty cheap.

Amy's is also overpriced by frozen dinner standards. They're usually $3.50 or so. Small portions too.

Amy's sucks.

I ate a lot of whatever the plain spaghetti with tomato sauce Michelina's option was back in my youthful days as well. Good times.

Re: Drive-thru vs. Going in. If there are more than 3 cars in the drive thru line, IME, it's MUCH faster to go in and take it to go. I don't mind dining in though, and some of the "Eww ghetto people" reasons some people ITT are talking about to avoid dining in depresses me.

Re: Scalping pasta passes. Doesn't the pass have your name on it? Can you buy one and wait to put your name on it? Or can we count on the fine folks at Olive Garden not to ID people?

Re: Actual fast food. Haven't seen anyone talk about TB's 5-layer burrito, which to me is the best fast food value. Tasty and filling for $1.30. Three of them stuffs you to the gills for $3.90 plus tax.
