One of the big turnoffs for me about Subway is that there's so much required interaction between the "artist" and the customer that if either is an *******, or stupid, or doesn't speak english and refuses to slow down enough to make any attempt to be understood*, it becomes horrible.

*- I am SO willing to work through a language barrier, but FFS it's a two way street and you simply cannot talk at me in broken mexirussian at 20903284 miles per minute and expect me to understand anything.

The bigger problem is a huge percentage of the artists are *******s. Chipotles require similar amount of interaction but somehow they manage to hire non-clowns.

my subway is awesome and american college kid staffed and i always get a good sandwich, no complaints ever. There is high variance because its a franchised restaurant, so if you have a ****ty experience, go to a different one, you're bound to find a good one.

I support this post.
Also, agree with TB fail at opening times. I never eat ff breakfast unless i'm up at an ungodly hour and didn't eat at home.

hotdog joint in Vancouver is now selling the most expensive hot dog in the world.

I've hit this place up many an early morning after the bars. slightly pricey but the mac n cheese dog is amazing, even when sober.

I like japadog too but they are closed by 10pm, no chance for glorious 3am tube meat in a bun.

I've never heard of them, i looked it up and they have one opening in two weeks not far from me, probably 30 mins. Is it good enough for the hour round trip commute?

EDIT... just checked the menu looks pretty good overall. Are the meatballs as tasty as they look online? They look awesome.

But seriously, WTF are they doing putting mayo or mustard on a cheesesteak nevertheless both. Gross

I am interested in the rolls though, are they crunchy on the outside but soft and gooey on the inside?? for whatever reason i can't get rolls like where i live very easily.

Firehouse Subs is pretty good but not drive 30 minutes there good. But then, no real fastfood place is really "drive 30 minutes just to go there" good.

re: firehouse

the rolls aren't cripsy on the outside in my experience.

The mayo/spicy mustard works on what they call a cheesesteak. It's pretty damn good

meatball sub is their most popular sub (says the manager at the location I frequent)

hook & ladder is my go to. BBQ Brisket runs a close second. add hot peppers to whatever you get

30 minutes well worth it

I used to drive at least 30 mins (depending on traffic) to get to the closest 5 guys. It was far above the best decision many nights. Another local philly/del/nj area chain (5 stores) to check out is:

http://www.zacsburgers.com/loc_havertown.html

I have def made the trip for this fast food burger a couple times. This isn't a REAL everyday ff spot tho.

Sorry to de-rail the thread with local bs...

Yeah, worth the 30 minutes to go eat there. Hook and Ladder is the standard, and would be what I suggest for your virgin experience.

Meatball is great too. BBQ Brisket is awesome to as Canoe suggests.

Another cool feature (both Firehouses I used to go to in ATL had this, not sure if it's all of them) is the crazy Coke machines where you can mix or try a ton of varieties of coke product.

Haven't had Firehouse since I moved to FL a couple years ago, really looking forward to it.

I don't understand this driving for 30 minutes just for fast food business. Its defeats both the cost savings and time saving advantages of fast food.

standard taco bell experience: total came to $3.90. i tried to pay with a 5 and told them to give me a dollar and some fire sauce. the girl at the window refused to give me less than $1.10. didn't get fire sauce.

luckily, alcohol makes TB manageable.
