Not defending the chicken but isn't the whole point of ordering McDonald chicken products is to use them as a mechanism to consume the dipping sauces?

My McD dipping sauce rankings:

BBQ > Hot Mustard >> Sweet Chili >>>>> The rest

People said the same thing about french fries and ketchup earlier in this thread.

Which is also basically true. With the one except being hot fresh McDonald fries.

Even then I still usually load up on ketchup.

YOu know what really grinds my gears?

When fast food companies pretend something is a new awesome deal even though it realy isn't. Like McDonalds adding lettuce and tomato to their mcdouble, nearly doubling the price, and saying check out our new daily double.

Of course the worst was when they removed a piece of cheese from their $1 double cheeseburger, changed the name to McDouble and introduced is a new great awesome dealthing. Also burger king doing the same thing with whateverthatwascalled.

People think I'm weird for this but I love eating McD's fries with the hot mustard for the nuggets.

Yeah, but the McBites are too small to get into the sauce without losing little pieces. Just epic fail.

The BKs near me no longer have any $1 double patty options. Dunno about McDick's.

That sucks. I love popcorn chicken, and hate having to trade one of my McDoubles for a McChicken just to add some variety. Oh well.

Not that this is anything new for anyone I don't think, but the McD's near me has a person taking orders via an iPad like thing when it gets busy. But they do it way before you get to to the menu/speaker. I guess people at this point know the menu really well and don't really need to see it, but it's annoying not to be able to see if something sparks my interest on the menu.

Then sometimes they are walking down the line taking orders, and they take the order of the 3 cars in front of you, and then for whatever reason decide that you get to order by speaker. It seems very random.

Did you notice a difference when they removed the trans fat?

Regarding the typical fast food speaker ordering system, I'm not sure why places even do it that way. Why not just place your order and pay at window #1 rather than placing your order at the speaker and then driving up to window #1? The justification that comes to mind is that by using a speaker, it allows the employee at window #1 to both take a customer's order via speaker while also receiving payment from another customer, which theoretically should speed things up a bit. But no fast food place I've ever been to cranks out orders so quickly that this would make any difference. There's always a bit of downtime between paying and receiving food.

working the drive-thru window seems like it would be pretty difficult. youre dealing with two people at once, cant hear the order well and its probably a dbag asking for all kinds of special stuff, people suck at reaching out their window to do things, sounds awful

my local burger king (which is one of the fastest drive-thrus I've seen) has speaker and window 1 together, they start taking your order over the speaker, then come to the window to ask if that's all and take payment, then you pickup at window 2.

One of the busier McDs near me was recently remodeled and now has two drive thru lanes next to each other. Cars get in one lane that feeds both, and each has its own order mic. Never seen this before - pretty impressive.

Exactly what I was afraid of - chicken flavored batter. Too bad.

Sometimes the manager of my neighborhood Dunkin Donuts will just stand outside and whip crullers at random passers by. Not sure if this is so much a promotion as a mental disorder however. I probably should stop going there, but colladas are the nuts.

My local Wendy's should be a case study in efficiency, every single time I've been there you place your order, pull up to the window and your food is ready. I don't know what they're doing, but it's almost scary how good they are. It's not like they're just pre making the food either, you can make a special order and it takes exactly the same amount of time. They must have the most motivated teenagers ever working there, the McDonalds right across the street has the double lane system but isn't nearly as fast.

This has been my experience as well, Wendy's is amazing when it comes to drive thru efficiency. Nobody else comes close.

I'm not a big fan of the McDonald's double lane system because if they're backed up the knobheads ordering in the outside lane don't let people ordering from the inside lane back into line to pay and pick up.

At some McD locations the person taking drive through orders isn't even at the store but rather in some call center halfway across the country. True story.

I love whataburger, but I don't go there quite as often anymore. I have to watch what I eat now, Doctor told me my heart isn't in the best condition, and for being only 22...kinda worried. Both my grandparents on my mother's side have suffered from heart attacks, so yea....kinda doomed. lol

But Whataburger is almost worth the imminent cardiac arrest.

Speaking of popcorn chicken.

Does anyone remember the original(I assume) KFC Popcorn Chicken? I'd guess it came out sometime around 1993 maybe? It was absolutely unreal good. They made no fake effort to put tons of chicken in there. It was just fried batter and chicken all mashed together. It had a kind of spiciness to it too, which I haven't seen or tasted from KFC since.

Yum.

I have been trying to locate those things forever. I do remember KFC bringing them back for a promo or something in probably 1999-2000. They were the best ff popcorn chicken i've ever had. Nostalgia has nothing to do with my opinion.
