They actively support a lot of antigay organizations as well, IIRC.

seems like a really stupid reason but to each his own

I mean I know you're the fig guy- but in terms of reasons to boycott a place, their support for what many people consider a hateful cause sure seems like a good enough reason.

I'm almost glad they're not around here- because I'd feel pretty conflicted. I'll just stick with my boycott of Dr. Pepper for the time being.

boycotting dr pepper lol

i see no sensible reason to deprive myself of eating what i want in the name of "making a stand" that has no actual impact. i would eat there if they gave money to obama.

I think any more real discussion on this topic will get a little too political for oot but i'd just like to say lol dkgojackets.

Most protest has little to do with changing anything and a lot more to do with how it makes you feel about myself. I'd feel like a dick going there (probably) so I wouldn't (I think). Not changing the world, but sleeping just slightly better at night?

In terms of Dr. Pepper- it's kinda the same. I mean it's like 65% the ads being dumb as **** and only 35% being annoyed by the joking misogyny- but I really don't want to support a company that thinks "THIS PRODUCT ISN'T FOR WOMEN HURRRR" is a good idea.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat. I've never lived around one consistently, and the way everyone raves about them I'm curious, but supporting hate organizations is a pretty good reason to boycott a company IMO.

Do you boycott other companies owned/run by people who contribute to chrisian organizations or just those that are upfront and honest about their beliefs?

If they aren't upfront and honest it is probably pretty hard to know you want to boycott them!

That's part of why I'm not 100% solid on what I'd do. Whoever runs YUM! could be just as horrible, but less open about it. However, by being less open I don't feel bad about it. Lying to yourself because you want a Chalupa is OK by me.

Well it was ok until they took away baja chalupas.

TBH I've never been a huge fan of the Chalupa- but it was the funniest sounding item on their menu. Yes, I spent time thinking about this while making that post.

I mean, are you asking if I go investigating every company so I can boycott stuff?

They have to be pretty upfront about it or I'd never even know. It's obviously much easier to avoid if they are honest and proud of their beliefs. And I have nothing against them being a Christian organization, just supporting organizations that are explicitly antigay. I support their right to believe whatever they want, but I don't have to support their company if I don't agree with their beliefs.

All that said, if there was nothing else around for 50 miles and I was really hungry I'd eat there anyway. However, in my experience there are always other options right there, and I'd prefer to give my business to a company that either doesn't hate gays or at least hide it.

I stopped ordering Dominos back in Noid days because the owner was anti-abortion, so yes I would. It may actually be the least I can do.

This -rice + beef is pretty tasty and cheap. Nice to not have to add sauce while driving because it has some heat to it out of the box.

In a different venture, I ordered a quarter pounder with Big Mac toppings. Pretty sure they put a Big Mac patty on a quarter pounder bun in retaliation for me messing up the lunch drive through.
