The more you rate stuff the more accurate it gets in general for you. At this point after years of improvement on their end and lots of rating on mine, it's pretty spot on with recommendations for me. Usually the only time it's way off is if I liked something in a genre I don't usually watch and a bunch of random crap in that genre starts getting recommended.

8 episodes into The Following, and am struggling to continue to suspend disbelief. But, will keep going.

It's one of the most egregious abusers of asking audience to suspend belief

But it's still a fun ride

Not so with Action or Comedy or Drama features, though. "Stand Up Comedy Special" is a super-narrow genre.

Anyways, was just a late night gripe while trying to find something to watch.
In the last 6 months or so, I think the only thing I've Netflixed that wasn't standup comedy was Happy Valley. But I've probably seen all of the standup specials on Netflix, and many of them many times.

Wife and I stayed watching the killing on Christmas. Half way through season one and I'm hooked. Is this a continuous series? Or is each season stand alone?

Not sure if it has been mentioned in here before but Side Effects was a really good. Starts a little slow as it builds up but it all comes together and is a great one to watch.

After the 30th time of there being 100 fbi agents in the room but Kevin bacon goes off on his own to take on JC we had to stop watching. Think that was around ep 6.

Season 1&2 are the same case, seasins 3 and 4 are each different individual cases but with some recurring characters from past cases making cameos.

Personally I think the show drops off a lot after S1 unfortunately.

Peaky Blinders was great all the way through. Like someone else alluded to it has a lot of redundant themes, think Godfather, Scarface, etc... but is done really well. I like how it's set in the 1920's but has modern music.

Watched 2 episodes of Helix, so far pretty good. It's a SyFy original series about the CDC going to the Arctic to investigate a newly found virus in a gigantic underground lab. The lead actor is Billy Campbell who played Darren Richmond in The Killing and the 2 main actresses are pretty hot.

Tried The 100 and gave up after 3 episodes. I liked the plot but the acting and dialogue was way too cheesy.

I feel like the star ratings are becoming less accurate for me, unless I am confused and those are how other people rate stuff.

I rarely give things 5 stars and almost everything they recommend for me is rated 4.5-5 stars. I feel like it is a recent change. I remember looking for random stuff to watch years ago and everything was rated 3 stars

I liked Helix a lot; season 2 starts in January.

same here. i'm a tough grader and the new "our best guess" ratings have become a joke for me. the change was def pretty recent; i'd say within the last 6 months.

I didn't care for the first episode and thought the second was kind of corny, but the third was solid. I'll likely watch the last three, but I personally wouldn't recommend this series to anyone.

I'm a few episodes in and it's pretty funny at times, I'm gonna keep watching. If it didn't have so many hot chicks I probably would have stopped by now though

i also watched Knights of Sidonia (a netflix produced animated action sci fi) because netflix's suggested rating system predicted a full 5 red stars.

i think they did a lot of things right that made for some really badass moments. like, i really enjoyed that one captain with the full face mask helmet giving orders and facing tough situations. like **** was going down and they'd be looking to the captain for some kinda reaction and it's just stoneface mask, i thought that was cool.

i also liked the sci fi elements, like the photosynthesis, and how, because of that, future boobs don't need to produce milk, and therefore hypertrophy. and the clothing is obviously gonna get in the way of absorbing sunlight, of course. that's science. and then they're in space so obv there's zero g scenes. they did a lot of things right.

but overall i didn't feel a connection to the characters or drawn into their story as much as some other shows and i can't put my finger on exactly why. then again i watched the series twice so i guess i was drawn in. it's fun universe building, fun action, zero gravity futureboobs. 3/5 stars

For those of you who don't have a good taste in movies is or are younger than 20 years old, or both. Please go watch Almost Famous, definitely an oscar pic nom. was so much better than Chocolate.

its by far Camerons best work, depicts the time period well and its a well performed cast. Absolutely solid stuff, an enjoyable watch

edit* I say if you don't have a good taste in movies because if you havent seen it or ever wanted to see it then your movie taste might be lacking

Dark net or black mirror?

I wouldn't press anyone on dark net, it's just kind of fun. Episode 5 was my favorite fwiw, and 6 is ok.

I'm a couple episodes in Helix, enjoying it so far. It's fun, but it's teetering on the line of creepy/too silly. I'll definitely finish it out though
