Re: Netflix "Watch Instantly"

Heat
Che (Benicio and Sodenberg's Biopic)
Awakenings
Monsters Inc.
Patton (One of the best Biopic's ever made. And a killer performance by George C. Scott)
A Bridge Too Far (Classic War film, only available until end of Jan.)

And a silghtly cheesy, slightly abscure, but utterly hilarious Al Brooks film:

Defending Your Life.

The concept is that after you die, you basically go to a sort of trial where you defend actions in your life, with the goal being to move on to the next stage in life. If you lose and don't convince the arbiter, you go back and essentially restart your previous "level" of existence.

Brooks is basically a guy who lived his life fearful and insecure. The movie revolves around examining parts in his life where he let his insecurity defeat him, and he has to defend himself and the actions. Very funny movie punctuated with poignant moments. Here's a short scene that gives you an idea of the tone of the film:

Wings of Desire.

City of Angels was a remake of it, and basically took out all the subtlety and artistic merit then warped it into a cheesy chick flick. Wings of Desire is just beautifully shot, and has a great performance by Peter Faulk.

Re: Netflix "Watch Instantly"

Someone just tipped me off that the show "The Brotherhood" is streaming, seasons 1 and 2. Looks like I got a new show to watch to fill in the gap until Mad Men season 3 comes out.

Re: Netflix "Watch Instantly"

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but I just started watching Party Down, an original comedy on Starz.

I didn't know Starz had original programming, but I learned about the show from this article on the Onion AV Club site. So far it has been one of the better comedies I've seen recently.

Never heard of this show but the cast is pretty stacked.
