happyhappy - It has not aged well at all. It was an amazing and somewhat innovative parody of suburbia back in the day. Loved this film. So many people would quote so many of the memorable lines:
"How Very..."
"Veronica, why are you pulling my dick?"
"Did you have a brain tumor for breakfast?"
"I love my dead gay son!"

Today, it's just not as good unfortunately. And the lines which were so amazing then just feel really really 80's now. Just too extreme in its attempts to create its own little world and side-language, etc to work as well today? Curious if you'll agree. I can't really explain it but it gradually went from amazing to "this doesn't really work anymore."

My suggestion is to make it warped WI Suicide Cult-Classic Doubleheader by including Harold and Maude after. The films surprisingly don't really go together even though they are both cult classics revolving around suicides.....but I still think you should do it anyway.

I'm thirty minutes into it and I agree with everything you just wrote. Still kind of enjoying it I guess, but not that much that I'm not back here.

There are 200 titles in my Instant queue, 16 of them showing up as "Until 1/1/12".

I watched 'A Little Help' with Jenna Fischer

rated it 4 stars, a lot funnier than standard Indy Comedies. Lot of the same dry humor as the rest of them though.

Watched John Rabe a couple of nights ago. Very good (Steve Buscemi in a supporting role btw).

For several other things I've been watching recently, I have had sporadic sound quality issues (music at normal volumes but speech very muted) with both Chrome and IE. Just my crappy notebook or are others here having issues too?

i haven't seen this behavior on netflix but it's really weird that you mention it because the re-run of south park[1] i'm watching right now on cable has similar symptoms -- music and sound effects are audible but dialog is muted.

I've seen some WI episodes where the audio was out of sync a few times. If you go to the my account section and look under instant watching activity you can report problems with specific episodes.

Is the newer XS version of the Roku worth it over the regular XD or whatever older Roku Box?

Also +1 to Peep Show, only 2 eps in but it's like 24 minutes of The Best of Michael Scott Cringeworthy Moments, but actually funny

Depends. Newer one supports subtitles, surround sound, and 1080p streaming for Netflix. I believe the older ones only supports up to 720p for Netflix. It does have 1080p and 5.1 audio for other channels like Amazon Video.

If you don't care about subtitles or 5.1 audio then you'll probably be just fine with the older one.

If you're not using HDMI or want to use wired instead of wireless internet, you should check and make sure that the version you get supports the cable connections you want. The older ones supported component video but the newer ones don't (I think). Not all product lines have an ethernet port either.

Ya I ended up just getting the XD 2, which seems basically the same as the XS 2 except no Angry Birds/wireless remote for gaming, and still had 1080p (hopefully has subtitles too, didn't read anything about that but it looked basically the same as the XS). We have wireless so it should work out I hope.

Upon finishing it, completely agree. The movie sure was awful, though. Not just without Rube and a different, much worse Daisy, but dialogue fell flat, plot was inconsistent, and clearly not having the creator writing the script just made it blah.
