The Architecture of Doom
In German with subtitles, darkly poetic, the film meanders through the Nazi rally as performance art, Hitler's obsession with artistic expression that reinforced Aryan Mythology, reaction against the chaos of abstraction, auguries of doom & perversion in modern art, the physician as biological warrior against the onslaught of racial impurity and genetic inferiority, and a profusion of examples from Hitler's many art exhibits before settling into various discussions of architecture in the Third Reich, the seige of Leningrad, and the Final Solution.
It also said Hitler and Albrecht Speer designed Nazi arenas on the "Ruins Principle," which dictated that they be constructed in such a way as to fall into picturesque ruins in the distant future.
Fascinating stuff.
