After season 1 lost really goes down hill. The only reason you watch is to see what happens next.

I am in an extreme minority I think in that I actually quit Lost midway through last season. Nobody has come as far as me and then had the balls to quit. However, after seeing that it's streaming in HD, there's a decent chance that I'll continue. If it wasn't HD I might not.

Do you guys ever have problems (this would be PS3 specifically) with out-of-sync audio?

I stopped watching Lost once they spent an entire episode talking about a mother ****ing tattoo.

I watched Surveillance and 11:14 the other night, enjoyed both.

I seriously can't find anything good to watch instantly anymore. Start pumping out some recommendations please.

Is there any advantage to using Blockbuster for Blu-Ray/DVD service?

Ty.
I have the original Roku fed into an older 720p plasma and an LG BD390 blu-ray player fed into a 1080p LCD. Both are great for Netlix streaming (although I suspect you need decent cable Internet as opposed to DSL).

The LG also plays:

- Netflix streaming as mentioned.

- most of my computer media (although the interface is a bit of a PITA).

- a slimmed down U-Tube which turned out to be very usable

- Vudu HD streaming. The movies cost about $5 but they have a 99 cent special that is often very good.

- Cinema Now (another movie streaming service that has mostly second tier movies).

I was going to link to the LG on Amazon but somehow the price has gone way up (I thought it was a steal at the $240 I paid with free shipping!) so I'm too annoyed to promote it. The LG appeared to be better than the equivalent Samsung player when I researched it at the time on the AVS forums. Netflix's home page also lists some new devices not available a few months ago (like the Wii).

The Roku has access to Amazon movie rentals and I added MLB.com which worked great (even in beta). They also have new stuff like Pandora which I haven't activated yet.

If either the Roku or LG could work with perhaps a slimmed down version of iTunes then you would have the ultimate device!

I have an Xbox 360 and Insignia Blu-Ray player w/Netflix. I've also seen netflix content on a ps3.

Xbox = PS3 >>> Insignia in terms of picture. Pretty big difference imo. I just bought the Insignia because it was $100 and I needed a blu-ray player (also wanted netflix so I can have my xbox in a different room for netflix)

I've read that with the Insignia blu-ray player you can use SD cards or an external hdd and watch .mkv movies you downloaded. Haven't tested that out yet.

I was so disappointed with this...I love "The Fugitive" and had read that it's that same type of feel, which it sort of is, but eh.

Wow, that's very surprising. Were you controlling for things like watching the same film at the same time?

Drop Dead Fred just came in and I couldn't hold myself back. I recommend it if you like goofy movies....

Quote:
After Elizabeth (Phoebe Cates) leaves her cheating husband, she moves back into her childhood home with her bossy mom. But instead of moving forward and getting on with her life, Elizabeth takes a huge step back, reliving old memories and resuscitating her imaginary friend, Fred, who lives in a box where he was stored. After 21 years, he's got tons of tricks up his sleeve, and he's about to shake Elizabeth out of her staid existence.

They had the original Twilight Zone series on watch instantly for a while, but it looks like it's gone. Too bad, that was a fun one. Anyone know of any other old-timey shows that they have that would be worth watching? I'm into those.

They have a bunch of Mystery Science Theaters on now, which is pretty cool.

Weeds season 1 was streaming in HD for a short time at some point last year. How do they decide when to pull/add shows and when to stream them in HD or not?

edit: thx for the big fan recommendation. Not sure if I would have seen it otherwise. I had never heard of it

Havent read the whole thread so I dont know if these have been mentioned, by the two best ive seen are antibodies (german movie thats similiar to silence of the lambs) and behind the mask: the rise of leslie vernon (part horror part mockumentary. Sounds weird but it was amazing, one of my favorite movies ever)

I've noticed it by just watching different things, but before I made that post I put on Worst Week (HD) on the blu-ray player and then switched to the Xbox.

The thing I don't like about the Insignia player is that it doesn't tell you the quality. With the Xbox, it will show 1-4 bars I believe and if it's HD and filled completely, it will show a little HD symbol. I believe a Roku player shows you little stars instead of bars.

The Insignia might have crappier quality because it seems to load movies/shows faster than the xbox, so it might be trying to play the movie as soon as possible instead of allowing some time to buffer and improve the quality.

I'll need to do some more tests when I get the chance.

original twilight zones are available at:

Re. Netflix movies, I highly recommend the Pusher trilogy. Low-level Danish drug dealers committing crimes, f---ing up various deals, etc. Very dark, very compelling.

It really doesn't surprise me. I have a 32" Insignia crt sdtv and the quality can be pretty lackluster at times, espically on the component channel that I play me xbox through. Fortunately, all I cared about was the size and it was cheap. Quality isn't horrible and I'm not that picky.

I'd be very interested. I had been thinking about getting an Insignia player but decided to forget it when I could have free streaming to the Wii in not all that much time (I already have a regular blu ray player). That decision is sounding better and better.
