Any end of the world movie recommendations?

I just finishes "Survivors", that BBC series that was pretty awesome, and Carriers. I enjoyed 28 days and 28 weeks later, but I'm not a huge zombie movie fan.

edit: Forgot to mention that I really loved The Road and to a lesser extent, but it was still awesome, The Book of Eli.
-----

As an aside, my wife and I had instant for a month before we signed up to get one disc with it too, just because so much stuff we want to watch isn't on instant. Not complaining though, because they are pretty quick about sending discs back.

Saw Shutter Island today on WI, the reviews on it were really mixed but imo DiCaprio is pretty awesome so at a recommendation of a friend I saw it. Thought it was really good but it probably helped that I went in with tempered expectations because of all the bad reviews. Will look for an OOT thread on this film out of interest in the consensus.

Also, recently saw State of Grace at the recommendation of some in this thread. Thought it was meh, and don't even remember the film coming out in the first place. Turns out that it opened the same week at Goodfellas. Whoops.

Others I saw semi-recently on WI:

- King of Kong: edited for villain/hero or not, definitely lived up to the hype

- Jim Gaffigan: Beyond the Pale. Although most are probably aware this is available, for those who aren't, watch it. He is so damned funny.

You all have one more day to watch The Warriors and On the Waterfront on WI, don't make the mistake of not seeing either.

Last few things I've watched:

- King of Kong: Meh it was ok...kind of boring and stuff. Average?

- Freakanomics - Very boring...fell asleep. Tough to watch a dude with an annoying lisp talk for 90 minutes.

- National Geographic - Aryan Brotherhood - Less sensationalized than Gangland but nothing you've never heard/seen before.

- Batman ('89) - One of my favorite movies when I was a kid. Tim Burton + Keaton combo delivers again post-Beetlejuice.

- Collapse - Interesting...in that conspiracy theory sort of way.

- Friday - Ice Cube/Chris Tucker hood cult classic.

- Blackhawk Down - my favorite war movie ever...4/4 stars everytime.

- Player 5150 - I met the guy who wrote/produced this movie in a cardroom in LA a few years ago. Watched half of it and then turned it off...C movie about gambling.

- Vice Guide to Anything - I always find vice stuff interesting...checkout the docs on LIBERIA and NORTH KOREA. Great stuff.

- Bladerunner - classic

- Falling Down - excellent performance by Michael Douglas as a middle class stiff in LA who loses his ****.

- Showdown in Little Tokyo - Dolph Lundgren, Brandon Lee, a topless Tia Carerre (early 90s), and Shang Tsung from Mortal Combat. Excellent B-action movie imo.

And starting tonight I'll be watching Spartacus Blood and Sand.

Been rewatching season 1 of Heroes, which I just loved.
Also makes me homesick for Japan (where I first watched it).

Has anyone seen Anti Christ with Willem Dafoe? I heard it was good, although you see Dafoe's junk a few times. Trying to find out if it's worth seeing despite that.

Just finished season 1 of Party Down. Pretty fun but the best parts are definitely Ken Marino and Joe Lo Truglio (both from The State). And Lizzy Caplan.

willie - I *think* what happened (my memory could be off) - is that one of the higher up writers (not the creators) left Heroes after S1 because his series "Pushing Daisies" got picked up, so he went full time to that show.

Anyway it's something like that, and guess makes sense considering what is generally perceived to be the real quality drop-off after S1...

Tupac: The lost Prison Tapes

not sure how long it has been out, but its an unedited prison interview. Never saw it advertised before tonight and although nothing too special a must watch for a hardcore tupac fan.

snippet:

(talking about how bad prison sucks)"..if you can get out of the game, get out, if you are hardcore into the game, at least find a way to give back to the community you are raping"

I just finished 'Please Give'. It stars Elizabeth Keener, and Oliver platt. It was surprisingly good. It's about a married couple that befriend an old woman in hopes that she'll die and they can build onto their NYC apartment.

While netflix bills it as 'indie comedy' it's not all that funny. It's heartfelt and has it's moments, though. FWIW I give it a strong B.

So I bought a pepperoni stick for probably the 2nd time in my life (it was awesome btw), and what happens? There is a scene where a stick of pepperoni causes a big hullabaloo in 'Trailer Park Boys' while I was eating a pepperoni stick. I'm pretty sure I bought it before watching any episodes, so I wasn't subliminally controlled into buying one through secret messages or anything. Anyways, I bring this up because I never would have heard of 'The Trailer Park Boys' (Canada TV show) if it weren't for Netflix and it is pretty darn funny at times. I recommend both the series and the movies.

They added Daybreakers, Dumb and Dumber (return) and Fargo (also a return). Daybreakers is a vampire movie that's pretty good. The other two I assume most have heard about.
