These are the best names for females. My criteria is strictly how mellifluous they sound, how they flow off the tongue and enter the ear in a pleasing tone, nothing else. I docked points for over-use, though. If every other girl in your town is named Jennifer, it ain't gonna make the list, you know?

1) Olivia - Just a gorgeous name, period.

2) Laura - the best 2-syllable name ever. The more casual "Laurie," however, is not.

3) Samantha - Very pretty name, and one of the few that when shortened to a nickname - "Sam" - is still pretty darn cute.

4) Sarah - Apparently, Jews are good at naming chicks.

5) Sofia - This one has fallen out of fashion over the last few years, but it's still a beautiful-sounding name.

6) Rachel - Like I said...Jews and names go together.

7) Jessica - Docked a few points for over-use, but still a gorgeous name.

8) Isabelle/Isabella - Spanish flavor always works.

9) Katerina/Katherine - but only the K name, not the C ones, for some odd reason. And shortening it to "Kathy" is awful.

10) Siobhán - Some Celtic madness for the last name on the list. Bonus points if you know how to actually pronounce it.

The worst-sounding names for girls:

I think how you feel about a name depends a lot on the people you've known with those names. Like, the only girl I've ever known named Olivia was a fat bitch, so I think Olivia sucks. Conversely, I've never known a girl named Lindsey that I haven't wanted to nail really badly, so I think that's an awesome name.

Also, I love boy names on girls. Shawn and Jordan are two that come to mind. Samantha also works cause I'd be calling her Sam.

Sophia was the #1 girl's name of last year on a lot of US lists.

The Hills has ruined the name Lauren, imo.

Mallory is starting to get overused, but I like that one. Same goes for Kimberly. Other good ones: Shelby, Raina, April, Charlotte, and Taylor.

Bad name: Ruby. It's a big one in the UK now, unfortunately.

Agree

3) Samantha - Very pretty name, and one of the few that when shortened to a nickname - "Sam" - is still pretty darn cute.
Agree, have a friend who is named samantha, I'd bang her in a second if she wasn't married to another friend

4) Sarah - Apparently, Jews are good at naming chicks.
Agree somewhat

5) Sofia - This one has fallen out of fashion over the last few years, but it's still a beautiful-sounding name.
Not really for me

6) Rachel - Like I said...Jews and names go together.

7) Jessica - Docked a few points for over-use, but still a gorgeous
name.
Way too overused, I know at least 4 girls named Jessica

8) Isabelle/Isabella - Spanish flavor always works.

9) Katerina/Katherine - but only the K name, not the C ones, for some odd reason. And shortening it to "Kathy" is awful.

10) Siobhán - Some Celtic madness for the last name on the list. Bonus points if you know how to actually pronounce it.

I have a 3rd cousin with this name, so I do know how to pronounce it right. I met someone through work with the same name. With my small sample size, girls with this name are always 9+ on the OOT scale

Not a good name to start with.

So that's one name I like, one I'm indifferent to, one I hated to start with, and seven that have been ruined by fat ugly bitches.

Hillary and Holly I have always liked for some reason. Maybe we view the names of girls we have had goo experiences with in a better light?

I'm pretty sure this thread devolves into "Name your attractive female acquaintances".

Have known 2 girls in my life named Holly...both hot, just dont like name.

Hillary is a name of a a friend, I was in her wedding actually. Cute girl, just dont like name.

And yes I literally went through my phone and pulled out some names and thought about the names, not the person I associated them with.

For example:

Danielle is first I listed, I just like the name but I know have had numerous experiences with Danielles

One is my best female friend, beautiful girl by far
One is a girl I randomly **** who was a cutter and a suicide girl, averageish looking
One is my friends ex girlfriend, she is super loud annoying and chubby

..those are just ones I currently know, so the person doesnt make the name foe me,

Constance is obviously a terrible name, but I like it shortened to Connie.

Not sure why Heather = sloot. I've known more puritan Heathers than sloot Heathers.

I also like Sarah, but I could never name my daughter that. It'd sound terrible with my last name.

I don't think any female names sound good when they end with Wookie

Take that back. I've already been going through the phone book and calling up all the Wandas, Wilmas, and Wendys to see if they'll marry me. No luck yet.
