speaking of changing tires: i had a flat rear tire the other month; the best part: it was on the highway and i was going 250kph 10 seconds earlier (germany).

Nice ride willie, like that color scheme.

I've had two flat rear tires before and they suck, but nowhere as much as I assume a flat front would! What speed rating was the tire?

I ruined two of the tires on my parents car in my reckless youth after a particularly high speed run

Has anyone ever gotten a flat from riding faster than the speed rating on the tire? I figured that it might not be soft enough to corner at higher speeds, but would it actually come apart?

I'm not sure now why I have Z rated tired on my bike when it tops out under 140.

I crashed one as a teen, lost a nipple and prob over a square foot of skin and will never ride again. But they're crazy fun.

I'm not sure if they'd tear to pieces or anything, but the car tires that I ruined developed largish sort of bubbles on the sidewalls that looked like they had the potential to blow.

I hate inspection and moto shops. Paid 70 for 40min of inspection (which took 3 days to accomplish) and they failed me because of racing tires (bought the bike with them) so they want to charge me 250/tire for pirelli diablo's (not even the top quality ones) and then another 200 for tightening on the steering bearing. Said **** that and threw on some tires myself. Inspection took another 2 days when I had all the work done by a friend who works there. Failed again, needs new break pads.

At this point I've spent more time on the phone with the ******s at the shop then actually riding my new cbr. Fml

Took my bike (Triumph Trophy 900) to the dealership to get new plugs, carbs balanced, and an MOT (UK equivalent of safety certification)...estimated cost 450GBP (~$700)

Have 20k for it and been startin to think harder about it. I want a motorcycle, but my family isn't too keen on it and that might kill the plans right there, + it won't be practical. Canada and long ass winters the main reason.

No real experience on a street bike, and just minimal dirt biking, camping stuff mostly, and lots of 4-wheeling. Am sure I could pick it up quickly. So curious. I like the V-star and Virago styles, but am fairly tall, 6'3"ish and still climbing. Anyone have any idea how they are for fit, height and so on? In general?

I'm hoping if I can convince them, that a bike and good 2nd hand car is the way to go, instead of just a new car. Also, anyone have ideas about how insurance works with that? I see people also talking about restrictions for cc according to age, but am not aware of that here. Have a few friends with bikes so can likely find out, but also if anyone knew that'd be great too.

Prob. a pipe dream and will end up with a "safe, reliable car" but plan on giving it a go atleast.
I'm 6'4" and ride a V-Star 1300 touring bike, it's a good fit.

Sold my streetbike last week. Way too funny. Kid shows up with a cashiers check, hands it over, I sign over the title, bill of sale, he rides the bike up to where his truck was and I start pointing out a few things he should know about it. Tell him to give me a minute and I will help him load it up in the truck. Run inside cuz I needed to get back into the garage for something. Open the garage door and next thing I hear is a sound I know all too well. I go running up the driveway and instead of waiting for me to help him get it in the truck he tried riding it up the ramps and dropped the thing off the bed of the truck. Whole right side of the bike is demolished and the whole tail section is snapped in a million pieces and there he was underneath the bike. I helped lift it off of him while one of his buddies just stood there watching. I'm trying my hardest not to laugh at this idiot but I hold it in and I ask what the f happened. He explains and then says "Do you want to ride it up the ramps?" I say absolutely not and tell him to grab a side while I take the other and tell his friend to push the back up. Takes 2 seconds to get in the truck, I kept my mouth shut though instead of saying "see how easy that was". Anyways I lol'd a bit after he left but felt bad for him at the same time. I woulda freaked if that happened to me.

If anyones looking for any street gear hit me up. I have a bunch of Alpinestars gear I want to sell since I'm done riding for a few years.

lol, I've ridden dirt bikes up ramps into trucks before, but never a full sized bike. I'm really disappointed you didn't catch that on camera!

If you're going to load a bike alone, use two ramps and walk the bike up 1 and walk alongside on the other. Much easier.

edit: like this but it's easier using two ramps http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nElHA...ext=1&index=14

GSXR-600. Loooove it. The bike screams. We take rides usually ever sunday, out in the middle of no where, to a windy road and open up the bikes. Best feeling in the world.

I'd really like to get a KLR or a DR400 or something like that too. Something I can ride in the winter

Anybody have any recommendations for decent waterproof gloves? My wife and I are doing a 5 day trip to John O' Groats, Scotland in a few days (woohoo!) but I think it is going to be cold and rainy as hell and gloves are the one major ***** in my waterproof armour.

edit: lol, that ***** is ch.ink.

A nice piece of ass jewelery.

I think I have a decent idea for rain/cold proof gloves...Going to try out a pair of these!

I just hope they'll be flexible/grippy enough.
