I got a windows 8 'machine' and I can't describe how horrendous the whole process has been. Between getting a microsoft account with a million steps that make no sense, horrible customer service, a device that seemed to have already come with Malware, and on and on... I forgot my password to my laptop, and they had no method for circumventing it, and then they couldn't tell me how to refresh the whole thing.

These things aren't minor quality issues, there are just so many 'wtf, what do I do now, or why are they doing this??? moments..

So strange, how has this behemoth of a corporation fallen so far?

Get a Commodore. The C64 is pretty sweet, but the VIC-20 is perfectly fine if you're on a budget.

Yes. I have Windows 8.1 on my laptop and I despise it. It makes you restart it for updates frequently and was apparently designed for tablets. It's the worst.

Microsoft knows 8 sucks a fat one.

They'll be giving all W8 users a free upgrade to Windows 10 when it's released later this year, iirc.

The interface sucks but easily fixed with bbfg's link above. Apart from that I have no problems with it, it's stable, does what it's supposed to do.

The updates every other day and ****ing insane. Half the time I update it my computer wont even restart. It will literally just sit there for hours completely unresponsive. I just purchased the laptop a few months ago too.
