We were talking about the fire theory. It's right there at the start of Jake's post that Yakmelk quoted: "The fire theory requires a lot of coincidences."

I mean, it's obviously ******ed. But we have Air Bases in South Korea. A flight on the way to Beijing puts it well within striking distance.

This: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worl...rom-MH370.html is sort of interesting.

It shows that the pilots took 4 minutes to contact KL radar after their hand off from KL airport.

Prime Minister of Malaysia making an announcement in 45 minutes. They might have found it.

Seems likely. Or at least they've found debris they can attribute to the plane crashing. I'd be really surprised if they actually found the main wreckage/black box.

Officials are staying very tight-lipped about the emergency briefing that will be held in half an hour at 2pm (GMT).

But acting transport minister Hishammuddin Hussein has spoken to politicians on the issue for the first time since the plane went missing.

He said: "There is some development. Whatever it is, the focus is to reduce the search area, so anything that [the Prime Minister] announces is in relation to the reduction."
I think they stream it on http://www.mirror.co.uk/ but I am not sure.

Cool image here providing some perspective on depth, although the reference points are a bit Aussie. Mt Kosciusko is Australia's tallest mountain.

Really helps you get to grips with how deep 3600m is.

Can't be that difficult to find. Just find where they sunk that huge tower, turn right and head off past a few smaller ones... keep going past the big rock and then presto your plane should be there right in front of you.. can't miss it.

Apparently Malaysian authorities have sent a text message (yes, a text message) to tell all the families that it is beyond doubt that the plane went down in the ocean and everyone is dead.

What I don't get with all these hypoxia/fire theories, doesn't the turn left/south virtually rule out all those theories?

You do realize this is what I've been argueing after you repeatedly expressed concern on 'all the coincidences' Re:fire ? As long as nobody knows how the electical part was actually designed there is nothing to add on that. You can't dismiss electronic failure/fire, the autopilot is so easily explained Im not even going to try, a few (more credible) sources have had several explanations on it.

edit; Ill go ahead anyway, the easiest explanation EVER is toxic fumes as a result of either the fire itself or the extinguishing of it.

lol holy ****. Text message to passengers:

Quote:
"Malaysia Airlines deeply regrets that we have to assume beyond any reasonable doubt that MH370 has been lost and that none of those on board survived. As you will hear in the next hour from Malaysia's Prime Minister, we must now accept all evidence suggests the plane went down in the Southern Indian Ocean."
"Your friends and family have perished in the vast ocean. We regret any inconvenience."

Wow. Like, what's the actual wording of something like that.

"found it... every1 is ded... sorry"

Seems unbelievably classless.

Edit: Just saw the text. Not much better...

That was a short press conference.

Basically all he said was that Inmarsat have made further calculations that confirm that the plane went down in the ocean west of Perth.

This is only interesting if the new data shows a very precise location of where the plane went down.

Statement from Malaysian PM:

Quote:
14.00 BREAKING: The Malaysian prime minister is speaking. He says from new analysis of satellite data, investigators have concluded that MH370 "flew along the southern corridor and that its last position was in the middle of the Indian Ocean west of Perth. This is a remote location, far from any possible landing sites. It is therefore with deep sadness and regret that I must inform you that according to this new data, flight MH370 ended in the southern Indian Ocean."
Like did anyone sentient not realise this was 99% already?

I don't think the text message is that bad. Making a thousand phone calls seems impractical and it was good they informed the family before the press conference.
