I think he only got caught because he was talking to a woman off-camera and joked about it like "I think young girls are really attractive" and then she reported him. He probably wouldn't have gotten caught if he hadn't have said that. The FBI need more than an off color comment from someone to get a search warrant and a team to search someone's house.

If he was indeed involved with the guy from his foundation I think it's likely that the foundation guy made a deal, reduce my sentence/give me a good deal and I will give you Jared from subway. Or even mentioning that he could give them Jared could have sparked an FBI investigation leading to enough PC to get a warrant.
