Sure, the industry probably has a standard percentage based on specifics. Probably because some of the time there should be minority blame. Accidents caused by failure to yield to traffic devices (personal experience), alcohol, drugs etc,,, I believe are rarely contested (ins work). So if OP got into an accident where it wasn't related to those, like someone texting and swerving into his lane side swiping his new lexus, and ins company said both were equally at fault, he can show the video of the other driver swerving into him. That said, he should still be able to avoid a side swipe, so lets say he is at 10-25%. I cant think of a common scenario where he really is not at fault, but other company claims the majority of the fault is his. He will not be getting into these type of accidents enough to make it worth turning on, press the buttons to record over and confirm, each time he gets into his car.
Good for person who is going to drive 180, or OCD.
No buttons to press. It turns on automatically when you start your car. It turns off when you shut your car off.
Vegas pedestrians are notorious for walking into the street outside of crosswalks or when they don't have the walk signal. If I hit someone in such a situation, I'll be very happy I have evidence that I'm not at fault. Also dude we are talking about $60 all in here!

Meh, if you hit a pedestrian in Vegas, you'd still be at fault even though the dude jumped in front of your car and you have it on camera.
It happens so often there's lots of evidence. Many times a pedestrian is even struck and killed outside a crosswalk and no charges are filed against the driver.
I didn't say you'd have charges filed. If someone can't pull into the Bellagio without hitting a pedestrian, then he should consider a bus. They are as annoying as ****, but I have no issue easing my way between them. Having it to prevent cops from saying ******ed **** to you or capturing Vegas violent nuts makes more sense to me.
Also, cool. You have definitions that nobody else agrees with. That's called being wrong.
Good day sir.
Being that the entire convo is about the Vegas strip, of course I meant the strip. The disingenuous life nittery mask of Didace doesn't suit you too well.
Gtfo. I can't tell you how many times some bonehead on foot tried to run into my car while living in Vegas, yet they never were struck. Strip driving sucks as you have to be attentive to the clown act, but I consider it a duty of the driver to watch out for drunk loons.
Like I said, I just thought there are better reasons for a dash cam than hitting pedestrians. Have you guys seen how people drive around the strip? Maybe get those guys some cams.

But the entire conversation is NOT about the strip. Read the OP where I talk about reasons for having the camera and mention pedestrians. Strip not mentioned at all. You're literally wrong in every post you make.
lol at insinuating that anyone who lives in Vegas ever drives on the strip. The first thing you learn when you move here is how to never drive on the strip unless you want to. Daryn's lived here a while now and I bet that was like the 3rd time he's actually driven down LV BLVD and it was because he wanted to take dashcam footage.
Here's an example of a video that could come in handy if there had been an actual crash:
With a crash and no footage, what if the guy just says "he rear ended me!"?
Great example of why dashcams are the shizz.
The front-facing cam is more valuable than you might think. If someone on either side side-swipes you, even though you wouldn't see the impact, you'd clearly see your own car getting punted, and since (presumably) you'd be in your lane (visible) it would be clear that the offender made the mistake. Same with getting rear-ended. You'd "see" and hear your own car get hit, and that would be pretty good evidence if it came to that.
Not sure about the cheaper cams, but others can replay video on the cam itself, so if you do call the cops, and they show up, the cop might very well be able to write a report favoring you. And if that happens, any legal issues are a slam dunk.

You're right. Crazy to assume that old school 2+2ers would play poker anywhere near the strip.
You can get to literally anywhere on the strip without turning on LV BLVD if you know where you're going. I haven't turned on there without expressly desiring to in years.
Not really tough to avoid hitting pedestrians in Vegas. It may require waiting until you reach your destination before shooting off a text, though. I never hit a pedestrian in the 6 or 7 years I lived there. Metro and drivers are a bigger concern than pedestrians. YMMV.
