You must be lots of fun at auctions. How much random crap have you wound up with?

I love auctions. I have ended up with a fair amount of random crap, 80 per cent of which I could not care less about and 20 per cent of which has turned out to be terrific. I went on a police ride-along in south-central LA and ended up on a murder site with an assistant chief. That was worth its weight in gold.

Can we PLEEAAASE get Mrs. T to post here? I would love to hear her stories about your auction escapades!

I love auctions but banned myself from them as I didn't want to become like those people on hoarding shows lol. I did get some awesome buys though. A brand new couch, really good quality with plastic cover still on for $200- apparently a couple got married and had furnished their whole house and the marriage didn't last past the honeymoon lol. In my young and poor days I brought a perfectly good modular couch for $2 at an auction, very comfortable and sturdy, clean etc but moderately ugly. Still for 2 bucks you can't go wrong and throw some material over it to pretty it up, all good lol!

Do they have enough room for a jacket and hat? I'm almost old enough to not give a ****. It's just that wearing a fanny pack screams "gun", but I guess that would be okay if I got a ccw.

No chance. I was within a whisker of buying a puppy at a live auction. Had it been a GSD, I almost certainly would have done so.

Note to kioshk: pun intended!

GSD = Good Service Dog right?

Last edited by de captain; 06-07-2017 at 10:51 PM. Reason: Was the puppy auction before or after the cock fights?

I almost brought a duck once, which was ridiculous as I had nowhere to keep the duck. I really wanted that duck.

FWIW I don't think ducks fair very well in a cock fight.

GSD is of course German Shepherd Dog. Silly nomenclature for sure, but it is what cognoscenti use. And the auction in question was a couple of years after the cock fights.

My brother-in-law of cockfighting fame had a Rottweiler that I did not entirely get along with. In truth, I rather feared that dog.

You haven't seen an Aussie duck. They're bred mean over here.

Rexx,
If there's anything I've learned about Australia it's that everything there can kill you.

That's actually true. I'm surprised I've survived this long!

I've always just assumed you had a Knife!

I sharpen it every day and carry it in a holster. How did you think I got rid of my mice problem? Traps are for pussies!

Throw those shrimp on the barbie! Amirite?

After I catch them with my knife, for sure!

You must be a Tuma gimmick. If you were actually Aussie you'd be eating prawns.

Greg: I know how to find out for sure.

Rexx: it you take an onion, cut it into shape like a flower with lot of petals, then deep fry it, do you have: a) a bloomin' onion or b) an awesome blossom?

You caught me out

On a serious note though, white spot disease has become an issue in some regions of Australia this year. It's been pretty brutal and the government in January suspended the importing of green prawns.
