Went up to the Sierras last weekend to do some fishing. Camped at various places off Highway 108 on both sides of Sonora Pass. Crazy how much snow the storms dumped last winter. In the middle of July with temps in the high 70's the pass at ~8500 ft elevation still looks like this:
I've been going up here since I was a teen and don't remember seeing snow along this stretch of road in the middle of summer. (Here I'm following my dad's Subaru powered VW camper van)
Overlooking Leavitt Meadows.
You can't really tell from the pic, but that stream (the West Walker) has like 3 times as much water flowing through it as usual. Needless to say, fishing was tough.
Normally this little creek is literally a trickle. Not this year!
Got one! Just a wee little guy as far as brown trout go, but pretty colors.
Getting a little bigger, this time a 21" East Walker rainbow
And then I hooked into a truly monstrous fish, just an absolute beast!
