Job Interview Question 101 - Proper To Shave Off Beard? - Page 2 - Other Topics Forum - Discuss Pop Culture, Arts and Entertainment

I just trimmed and detailed very well. Interview went very well I thought, It lasted over an hour which is easily my longest Interview ever and I have been on a bunch. We seemed to vibe really well.

FYI my Beard looked like this when i went...

Obv not me, But short like that, detailed well, no neck hair etc.

Normally my beard looks like this...

i had the exact same situation for an interview yesterday except i haven't had my beard as long and the job wasn't for as much money. i shaved it off, got offered the job, turned it down and was pissed i shaved.

i think there was some quote from some person some time about not taking a job that you need to change your wardrobe for and i think that should be amended to style, including structure of facial hair.

unless you look like complete hobo or the job is out of this world awesome, don't shave for anyone!

why wouldn't it be a good association? this guy does million dollar deals for breakfast. he seemed like an excellent worker, just incompetent at hostage negotiation.

This is horrible. This is stubble not a beard.

I see this guy, I don't think "bearded guy with a neat beard", I think "bum who didn't shave".

When you said 8 years I thought you were talking about a beard you couldn't grow back over the weekend.

I would think a full beard would be more acceptable than stubble. I know some places allow beards but you basically can't be in the process of growing it at any time

I voted shave before I read the op. Then I read the op and regretted my vote. I then read the thread and decided my vote was probably for the best since it's so short now.

Both beards in the posted picture are unacceptable if you care about such things. The second kinda sloppy beard at least requires trimming.

Well, Its not quite as short as Pic 1, but close enough. Place seemed laid back when I went, People working with untucked shirts, Jeans, Goatees etc. So I don't think the Beard will determine anything in the end.

Interview went pretty good. Over an hour, Which i guess is a good sign. Asked me to fill out a background check form which i guess is another good sign as those cost decent money. Thoughts?

It doesn't matter what the place seemed like since you don't work there. You dress up nice for an interview to show respect for company interviewing you, when you start working there then you can start dressing like everyone else.

Pic one was pretty horrible. Another reason to shave is it makes you look younger and that's better than looking older.

I dont know, maybe it's because I'm young, but to me a beard says "fat slob." Everyone near my age that I know with a beard fits that description.

OP had stubble, not beard, so I don't see the problem with shaving and regrowing.

I'm lucky that geologists are expected to look scruffy and generally having a beard gives you more credibilty.

I have hired geologists earning well over 6 figures that looked like they had been living in a cave for the last few years.
