I finally decided to put braces in my teeth this year and I'm worried about the way the contract between me and the dentist was done.

I don't know how it works in other countries, but here usually the patient don't pay anything in the beginning of the treatment, only the monthly "maintenance" fee, which in my case is around $90. This makes me wonder if the guy will be doing things slowly in order to make the treatment last longer. He said the whole thing might take around 2/3 years but I signed no formal contract so if he makes it last 5 years I can't really do anything.

* How the contracts are made where you live? Should I ask him for a formal paper describing the whole treatment, etc?

* Is $90/month reasonable? I go there every two weeks and the it last like 15 minutes each time, which means I'm paying $180/hour to the guy.

* Also, I didn't went last month, but still had to pay the $90. I think it's terribly wrong, but as I have no idea how this thing work I didn't say anything. I asked some friends and they said "it depends on the dentist". Should I say anything?

You should call your orthodontists office and his secretary should be able to answer all of those questions better than anyone here will.

When i got my braces he gave me 2 options, #1 pay the whole thing upfront around 2-3k$ i dont remember exactly, or #2 pay in 200$ increments every 6 weeks on our appointents untill the initial amount is payed (same amount of $ as option 1 but a little more expensive)

You had to pay 90$ for a missed appointment ? did you forget to reschedule ?
