i read today that in sweden you don't fart aloud ever, or ever take the last slice/piece of anything. good calls imo.

Not super surprised to learn you're this douche irl, yet still somehow a bit disappointed.

+1 to ham.
re: moonrise kingdom
I feel like if you're on the fence/slightly annoyed with wes anderson's style, this will actually push you towards the negative. it's just packed to the brim with all the twee **** that he does, to the point that it's almost a parody. I still enjoyed it, but it's at the bottom of the list compared to his other stuff.

I've steadily grown less and less enamored of WA as he's made more films. They increasingly just seem like an excuse for him make colorful dioramas scored by sixties folk-pop. There's a regressive, infantile quality to it all that I find kind of off-putting. The earlier films had these tendencies as well, but also had enough moments of adult conflict and drama to offset the navel-gazing. When I saw the new film was about kids at a summer camp and entitled "Moonrise Kingdom," I cringed--it's like Russ Meyers making a movie called "I Love Big Tits" or something.
The lionization of WA by my generation speaks volumes about everyone's secret desire to make a semi-ironic playlist, put in their earbuds, and disappear forever up their own ass holes.

Re: living in Brooklyn, my vibe is that bicyclists become proportionally less annoying in situations of greater density. Falcon being upset at bikers during rush hour, for example, seems a bit weird to me because around here (DC) that seems like precisely the time when bikes aren't actually slowing anybody down (because traffic is so thick that's about the average speed anybody can go anyway.)
My sympathies are generally with the biker - I'd probably do it myself if it weren't for the massive culture/safety clashes that this discussion is emblematic of. But I can definitely also see why other people get frustrated by them. I feel like there's a specific class of biker that will haughtily cite traffic laws when it suits them but will also ignore all of the stuff that doesn't. These people irritate me.

the ones that don't stop at stop signs and just burn though the intersection at 20 mph are particularly tilting.

Me and my unicycle get no respect on the road. It could be the juggling though.

I'd like to tag team some bicyclists with 27off one day. He'll drive by and drench them in soda and when they stop to cry/dry off I'll pull up behind them, get out and beat them to death with a baseball bat.

But then the last slice is never taken so it eventually ends up in the garbage, and the second to last is effectively the last, so you can't take it either. Following all the way through on this logic, you can't even take the first slice.

Imo Life Aquatic was the peak of his style over story. I thought the story was very good in Moonrise K.
Check out Submarine for a very similar story, w/o Wes Andersonisms.
Many great directors (not that imo WA is an all time great) have a pronounced style and there are movies/times where Allen, Scorsese, Hitchcock, Malick, QT, Cohen bros, Kubrick... seem like they are doing somewhat hollow immitations of themselves.
I guess you could measure directors by range, like your do actors. Robert Dinero and Stanley Kubrick are incredibly good at a certain thing, but Ben Kingsley or Steven Spielberg (Danny Boyle? if Spielberg makes you cringe) have bigger ranges.

Re: *****It's Not The Heat, It's The July LC Thread*****
Ran out of toilet paper but had a box of Puffs nearby, used that. Works just as well imo, and I don't have to tear off the squares.
On a related note I've been a little backed up lately despite taking psyllium fiber, so I thought maybe the bacteria culture in my gut needed a boost. Bought some yogurt with active cultures and had that for breakfast along with an avocado and coffee. About an hour later I seem to be cleaning the system out quite nicely. Yogurt the night before as well.

That's a cool misspelling though. You could have played that off as intentional.
