People who judge people solely by appearance are double douchebags.

Absolutely not.

There's a ton to be gleaned about a person based on how they present themselves.

I saw an episode of the new Real World on MTV, and there's a guy who has giant gauge ear piercings and tattoos everywhere, and he is just bawling about how people judge him before they know him.

So unlucky.

Note the most important word in dude's post.

Fig Guy is way out to lunch. While I have issues with bikers, 1- it's usually not the ones in biking gear 2- that stuff has a lot of utility. It's not just somebody wearing a jersey, come on now.

Saw Moonrise Kingdom today, solid A imo. I've always been a fan of Wes Anderson (although I'm not elbow deep like some people), and I think it's probably his best movie since The Royal Tennenbaums. If you hate his style you will probably hate this movie, but if you're sort of on the fence about his previous work, you will probably become a believer.

Not sure about changing them minds of people on the fence, but I agree with everything else.

Rushmore >> TRTenebaums = Bottle Rocket (maybe, it's been a long time, i last saw in the theater 16 years ago) > Moonrise Kingdom >> Fantastic Mr. Fox > Darjeeling Limited > Life Aquatic

imo - and it's a fairly small range there. Life Aquatic was still ok imo.

More difficult to execute because of the timing, but if done correctly, can be made to like an accident: a hip check to the shoulder of a running child that sends him careening into the nearest object (ideally, a large display of canned goods.)

I agree with that list but would move Life Aquatic up 2 spots personally.

I guess the reason I said what I did about people on the fence is that unless you hate, hate, hate his style, there's just no way you can leave this movie without a smile on your face. And I think his style actually enhanced this story more than others because of it's fairy tale nature, instead of just being quirky for the sake of being quirky.

I'd put Bottle Rocket ahead of Tenenbaums.

Re: *****It's Not The Heat, It's The July LC Thread*****

Bicycle guy the other day tried in various different ways to kill himself and cause an accident. Geez. Was going past me to go through a red. Oncoming traffic had a left-green light though. So he realizes that at the last instant and swerves left to not get killed. Now he's on the crosswalk to my immediate left and coming back where he came from basically. But he cuts in front of a car turning right so has to swerve again and cuts right in front of me.

Basically runs a red and does a big circle around a complicated 5-way intersection with all kinds of traffic everywhere because he's retarded.

If you're on a bike, shouldn't you be more careful and not less? Those cars are a lot bigger and faster than you.

Re: *****It's Not The Heat, It's The July LC Thread*****

yeah i'm gonna go ahead and call you all a bunch of dickwads re: the bike thing. i don't really like riding a bike myself but it's a totally legit mode of transportation and quite frankly there are a ton of horrific, obnoxious, totally oblivious ****bags driving cars these days. they can do a lot more damage than some 90 pound hipster on a fixie. i drive in new york all the time and every month there's a story of somebody getting run over or whacked into a traffic by a door and run over by a bus, or some drunk cop running over a bunch of kids. but i can't remember the last time i had a real problem with somebody on a bike and i lived in ****ing brooklyn. hating on cyclists is like a perfect storm of anti-hipsterism, fatty-defensiveness, and generally being a low-brow reactionary hurr-de-hurrr-hurrr dip****.

yea when you miss your left turn light because some ****ing douchebag cyclist refuses to use the crosswalk like a normal person, you'll change your story real quick.
