Well, "creeped out" is probably the wrong way to put it -- it's not as if I'm having nightmares about it or anything. I suppose it's mostly the fact that nobody has any clue what the hell the thing is. I mean, I understand people being weirded out by the Russian numbers station, for example, but at least we pretty much know it's just spy communication ****. The Voynich manuscript is like a window into a completely unknown, forgotten world.

its just a hoax, you may relax

pretty much every phenomenon or unsolved mystery has a very simple explanation. usually it is too simple, so people just refuse to believe it. its like magic tricks, but since you cant prove them anymore, people can keep on believing.

nothing wrong with that, I like to get amazed. but you shouldnt take it too far imo.

One more...Monsanto Company (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monsanto)

"Agracetus, owned by Monsanto, exclusively produces Roundup Ready soybean seed for the commercial market. In 2005, it finalized purchase of Seminis Inc, making it the world's largest conventional seed company.

Monsanto's development and marketing of genetically engineered seed and bovine growth hormone, as well as its aggressive litigation and political lobbying practices, have made the company controversial around the world and a primary target of the alter-globalization movement and environmental activists."

Agricultural equivalent to Haliburton (or other government-conspiracy companies).

Worth the read...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peshtigo_Fire

The October 8, 1871 Peshtigo Fire in Peshtigo, Wisconsin, is the conflagration that caused the most deaths by fire in United States history.

The fire was so intense it jumped several miles over the waters of Green Bay and burned parts of the Door Peninsula, as well as jumping the Peshtigo River itself to burn on both sides of the inlet town. Surviving witnesses reported that the firestorm generated a tornado that threw rail cars and houses into the air. Many of the survivors of the firestorm escaped the flames by immersing themselves in the Peshtigo River, wells, or other nearby bodies of water. Some drowned while others froze to death in the frigid river.

The unkillable man (until they killed him :-/ ). Must have been a super soldier. Michael Malloy (1873 – February 22, 1933) was a homeless Irishman from County Donegal who lived in New York City during the early twentieth century. Although he was a former firefighter, he is most famous for having survived a number of attempts on his life by five acquaintances, who were attempting to commit insurance fraud.

A brief history of the Northern Ireland Troubles.

Her Majesty's Prison Maze (aka the Long Kesh or the H Blocks) was the prison in Belfast that was used to house political prisoners during the Northern Ireland Troubles. (Both Nationalist and Seperatist prisoners were housed here) I learned from my mother that we had many family and friends in this prison in the 70's and 80's. Including two of her brothers and a family friend from the Markets neighbourhood that my father grew up in, who served a full life sentence.
Maze (HM Prison) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It was the sight of the 1991 hunger strike in which 10 political prisoners killed themselves, including the infamous Bobby Sands.

Another interesting development during the Belfast troubles were the "Shankill Buthchers", they were a group of mostly protestant members of the Ulster Volunteer Force who brutally murdered many Catholics and Protestants during the troubles.
