Sheesh. Here we go again? Hope everything and everybody is ok.

Thanks for the details.

These van/truck ones are pretty scary because they seem very, very simple and can cause a lot of actual terror. The recent NY one really showed how fast they can be going and if they are behind you, you are done.

There are little really. Initial report just now says a van plowed into people. Up to this moment, all I heard was about police activity on the bridge.

The Guardian has one of its live-update things going.

https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/...-incident-live

There seem to be two incidents, the van attack at London Bridge and a knife attack at Borough Market. Armed police are on the scene. Correction, three incidents as something's going on in Vauxhall as well.

Vauxhall thing apparently unrelated. You have to wonder how often these things are going to happen in the future.

I still don't get why regular police officers in the UK don't carry guns in this day and age.

Obviously that wouldn't stop this stuff from happening, but it would certainly limit the impact.

Because 1) the public don't want it and 2) the police don't want it.

Armed response officers can be there very quickly. In this case they shot dead all three attackers within eight minutes.

Guns held by cops are clearly a deterrent in the US.....terrorists or whatever you call them don't really care what the other parties have to stop them; their worst case scenario is they die and that's also their best scenario; obviously their worst is dying by themselves and their best is carnage.

There worst case senario is clearly that they live and then have to deal with the legal/penal system and just age realizing they are a loser rotting in a cell. Death is an easy end.

I find it interesting that this thread has yet to mention the word "terrorist" or "terrorism." It wasn't just an "incident" carried out by some "attackers." It was a terrorist act committed by terrorists. Call it like it is and stop trying to skirt the issue in the name of political correctness.
