My 2nd firefight, we got ambushed out in open desert while doing a foot patrol around our village. RPGs flew over our heads. We laid down automatic fire, and immediately began bounding. The enemy had constant fire, and every time they turkey peeked, we were closer and closer.

I think in many ways I'll get even more support, from the Kurds themselves. From what I'm seeing, I'll be working close enough to see the enemy, as well as the people I'm trying to protect. We won't have air support, but it's not like that **** helped in Afghanistan until after the shooting started anyway. Plus ISIS doesn't have air support either, which is definitely the most important part.

I'm not American, but is VA Disability something everyone gets or is it because you've been judged to have some sort of mental/physical disability related to serving?

If they found out what you were doing, would you lose it?

OP, is the $930/month you get from the VA disability pay? To get that much, you would have to be around 50% disability rated. If that's true, are you really healthy enough to go fight another war? Or did you lie about your disability and are getting over on the American taxpayers?

I'm just real old school. If you want something, you work and pay for it. I'm pretty sure there will still be bad guys in a month, but whatever. (And I've been locked in a room with lots of twenty year old Vietnam vets, but all we did was get high...)

Honestly, I was really good at my job. Like I said, my and my squad won everything. By my 3rd year, I was in amazing shape, and had paid attention enough in courses to have learned to lead Marines to the same level.

If there is a cause I believe in, and a means to get there, I'd seek out the opportunity regardless of pay. The $930 I get every month is my blessing to do literally whatever the **** I want in life and be "ok".
