OP,

How much do you know about what happens when you leave in terms of the whole process?

Like, what are the steps between now and you being on the battlefield?

Supposed to contact them as soon as my ticket is purchased. They will pick me up from the airport, bring me to Rojava where I will " meet YPG heroes in Rojava, Syria and join them if u are interested, you can join the other Vets fighting IS thugs in Rojava , Syria"

Well that beats fighting for them, I guess. I wish you good luck. They are definitely evil and well worth fighting. Fight well and honorably.

In the likely event that you get captured by ISIS and at some point it becomes clear their intending to execute you on camera broadcasting it live online would you read out the note they give you to read or spit in their face and go out kicking and screaming?

Likely event....

I have no idea. Of course I'd want to say the latter, and I hope that's how I react. Gonna try to have one last round, always, for myself.

I'm glad that OP briefly pointed out the incredible failure of GreenMagi's "logic" so no one else had to bother.

OP -- I, and most others, would not do what you're doing. But, these ISIS clowns seem like they really need to be wiped off the face of the earth. **** them. So, good luck, and thank you.

so are they going to give you some cool guns and weapons, or is it BYOWMD's?

what if they give you some rickety old ak-47 that barely shoots and say "go take that hill!!"?

The OP getting upset with GreenMaji (showing that he wasn't aware of his posting history) made me feel that he was legitimate and not some gimmick just messing around.

Do people really send money for these kinds of things? I thought it was for inventions and stuff.

Haha, I'm sure I'd have a fun time bringing an AR-15 into the airport. But they will outfit me with used weapons, I doubt anything will "barely shoot", especially an AK. I've heard stories of AK-47's being so durable you can bury them in sand, dig them up, and immediately start employing it. Try that with an M-16...

Idk, I've had a pretty lackluster response with my page. Reasonable to test the waters and see if anyone would help get me there, airfare is kicking my ass and it's chump change to some people.

you don't have to put yourself through all this fantasy hero ****, man. 1 (800) 273-8255 is the number for the national suicide prevention lifeline. talk to some more people about this first.

OP, are you familiar with Eric Harroun?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eric_Harroun

http://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2015/02/16/lost-syria

Your general action-junkie attitude, and your combination of indignant righteousness and vague political understanding, reminded me instantly of Harroun.

That said, you seem a bit smarter than he was (but not by a wide margin). I wish you the best.

For me, it is just a matter of credibility. I think it is safe to say that most likely no one here knows the op and therefore no one here can legitimately vouch for him. If I want to donate to a cause, I would do it some other way than gofundme where there is no way to be sure that the money is going where it was intended.

I'll take donations in the form of Airline tickets or someone the last of my personal belongings lol.

But seriously, anyone interested in an extensive Zippo collection?

Could you elaborate more on the process and logistics? Where do you fly to? Are you getting paid or is it just 'room and board'? Do you have an expected duration? What happens when you're done over there? Can you leave at any point?

Things like that.

Also, do you feel like you 'enjoy'* combat? And I don't mean necessarily in a bloodthirsty sense. Could be just that you like how you feel when you're fighting for a cause you believe in?

* Enjoy isn't the right word, but I'm not sure what the right word is.

I really don't think Americans should be engaging in combat halfway across the globe when there are still so many people that need killed here at home.

PM me for the airport. I don't know if I should post the specifics publicly. I'm not getting paid at all, but in the back of my mind, I know that my VA Disability will be coming in every 1st like clockwork. I do not have an expected duration, one thing I received in my initial message was "Rojava is not a vacation hotspot. please only come if you intend to stay until the threat of ISIS is eliminated".

As far as when I'm done, I check my bank account and with wide eye I go see my girlfriend in Greece again, then Hawaii for some much needed vacation.

How do you think you will cope fighting in a completely different environment without the support you get fighting for the US.

How different do you think it will be? In what way?
