I'm no Chuck Woolery but I can tell you this much girls love confidence. They want a man who doesn't assume that a girl will just fall in love with them, they know that they will fall in love with them. I agree with most of what you said, but if you approach girls like you are a action movie with entertainment value and drinks, you will constantly be chasing girls and putting them on pedastoles.
In my experience if can begin a conversation with a girl without giving them the upper hand by putting the obligation on yourself to carry on the convo, you are half way there.
It should appear that it is sheer coincidence that you are talking to them, that way they feel like they are lucky to be in a conversation with such a great guy, rather than you are trying to pick her up.

OP, my lifestyle is a lot like yours. I'm not much of a party person. Internet dating is great. If you can get a girl to talk to you that is. I guess the girls I go for are very picky but also my messaging skills suck. Anyways just give it a shot. GL to both of us.

OP, take from this what you will, but I think the biggest mistake guys make is putting women on a pedestal...I used to do this all the time...
Women are just like you and me, only I think with lower self-esteem. Just remember that most chicks suffer from confidence and self-esteem.
The biggest advise I can give is ask lots of questions, listen or pretend to listen and give small compliments...your hair looks really nice, your outfit looks great, etc...nothing crazy and obessive, but little compliments...

sounds like you need to lower your standards a lot.
Do you think its a coincidence that the only girls have showed interest in you are the ones tthat you didn't care about doing anything with? Try acting disinterested or more confident around the other ones and not be so nervous/ lame

I am in a very similiar situation to the OP. 21 years old, virgin, never gone on a date, 5'6". Even in college I didn't get laid. I never bothered to go to parties; just stayed in my room to play videogames and study (not because I felt like studying was more important; I was just socially awkward/anxious).
After reading this thread I feel like when I turn 25 I will finally make the effort to ask a girl out. I'm already nervous... ****.
