I'm amazed that FB hasn't banned SocialCam yet. Its exactly the sort of thing that threatens to destroy FB.

Click on a SocialCam link and you get an embarrassing thing posted on your timeline for all your friends to see without realizing it.

The moment people become afraid to click on links on FB, FB is dead.

You can tell SocialCam to not make posts about what you view. There's a link at the top of the page somewhere. I remember clicking on some stupid video it said someone watched because I wanted to see how dumb the person was (turned out they were watching out of curiosity like me) and then I realized that it was probably going to announce that I watched it, too. Fortunately, I saw the link at the top, though I don't know if that nixed the announcement of that video or just all future videos.

Yeah there's 1 guy on my feed who keeps watching "provocative" videos. lol. Like "Eva Longoria flashes Letterman her 'avocados'" and some others. Cringeworthy. Not that those vids are a big deal but I don't want to be privy to that information - especially with them not knowing. I guess I should tell the guy haha.

There are numerous reports detailing that SocialCam privacy settings were being reset every time you accessed from a different browser, cleared cookies, accessed from a mobile device etc.

SocialCam claims this was all just a bug, but that is a pretty convenient story.

Its pretty clear that the makers of SocialCam did this intentionally to gain traction. Now that they've been called out on it, this has supposedly been fixed sometime within the last month.

By doing nothing, Facebook basically sets a precedent that its ok abuse their system for a while to get to critical mass, then say 'oops' and start doing things on the up and up.

Once Facebook is flooded with a mass of SocialCam imitators, they're going to have a real problem.

I'm pretty certain that the crusade pic is satire, but I guess who knows. I find it extraordinarily hard to believe anyone would genuinely think we're in some kind of holy war: Christianity vs Islam 2.0.

Speaking of religitards I have several on my FB. One is a close girl friend of mine since early HS. She's not out there religious, but a fundie nonetheless. I usually steer clear of her religious FB posts but I couldn't resist today:

All I wrote was, "I wasn't aware that theology had changed that much in the last 1000 years."

didn't think that it was that bad but whatever, i instantly got this text:

"I know you don't agree with me a lot of times but i kind of don't appreciate it when you tear me down all the time (lol i never do) on Facebook... Like I get it you don't have to agree or approve or whatever but it makes me feel really bad when you always have something negative to say... Not even just on my christian posts... (??) I always feel dumb and just want to take my pictures or statuses off. I'm sorry I just wanted to make you aware of how it makes me feel."

then she comes back with "it's like if you genuinely wanted to have a discussion about it, that's one thing, but we both know that wasn't the case and I feel like you wanted to embarrass me and tear me down."

it goes on further but whatever, I told her that wasn't the case and i'm sorry she feels like i'd be purposely mean to her. I seriously had no other intention other than to be snarky, lord knows i put up with a lot of retarded crap all my fb friends post

so we're all good now and then she instantly posts this, the comments on it are proving way too tempting for me:
