Some stuff removed from this thread because we can't have nice things, apparently.

Just to be clear I don't mind seeing a pregnant belly from a proud mom-to-be but anybody who posts an image of a pile of **** that their baby made is a ****ing stupid *****. Even just posting a feed about how your baby just took a dump is too much but at least there is no visual aid to go along.

If I ever see a pic of baby **** on my FB I'm going to save up for a week then drop a C-shaped clog log in the toilet and photograph it and post it just so that 1 person can see it with the caption "Prohornblower made a doody!"

On the contrary it's against the rules to tell someone to die, you want them to die or that you're going to kill them. Also I really don't give a **** whether someone is serious or not. What he said is offensive to me and I'm a hard person to offend.

Yeah, I agree it's frustrating and annoying and I def have some that I can put in here (when those people post stupid **** on FB again). But saying that you hope a Mom/baby die of AIDS is so far over the top that it literally makes me slightly sick to my stomach to think that you think that's acceptable to say.

A good amount? People that care? Dude - no one cares about your dog. No one. Some people might glance at it, some people might bother to hit the like button or even be nice enough to comment but the vast, vast majority of your facebook friends could really really give 2 ****s about seeing 3-4 pictures of your dog on their feed every month. I mean you get that right?

Hah, thanks for knowing my friends. Seeing as the first couple of months that I had my dog I had at least five people ask for me to upload pictures and even now if I go too long someone will ask for updates.

I don't know about his friends, but the female ones I have would gleefully look at 3-4 kitten pictures a day.

I'm not sure if people "care" about pictures of fuzzy animals, but most are going to enjoy them and not object at all.

Sooo...are you saying that people should just stop having children altogether and let the human race die off? That seems pretty ridiculous.

I am a woman who intends on having children someday. I also agree that bare belly pics are completely unnecessary, but saying that these women should die of AIDS is disgusting. Your comments make me way more upset about the future of humans than any woman posting bare belly pics. I have a feeling I will post updates of my pregnancy on FB just to keep friends and relatives up to date on everything. I don't see why that is an issue. Also, wouldn't a woman who posts updates/pics probably produce a person that would be a better member of society than a woman that doesn't? Clearly, these women care about and love their babies and have a support system out there. This will probably help to raise a more responsible and caring person.

Elysimo, I think you missed Supa's point but I'll let him elaborate.

I don't see anything wrong with posting updates about pregnancy/kids to Facebook. But sometimes the frequency and make-up of those posts aren't about their kid - they're about the parent. Talking about how much you love being a Mom to the point where its pretty clear you're just trying to convince everyone that getting knocked up wasn't the worst mistake of your life - doesn't make me think you'll be a good parent.

Serious question: wtf is the point of facebook if you can't post stupid crap about your kids or dog or job or inane stuff you think while drunk?

I thought that was the whole point of facebook but I probably just don't get it...

That's what facebook IS for.

The rest of the internet is for telling people that do that to die!

It's from the movie Half Baked with Dave Chappelle (spelling?). The dog's name is killer and when the dog attacks the guy who's passed out on the couch they yell "Yo killer kill". It has nothing to do with murder or people dying. I just thought the movie was funny when I was younger and I couldn't think of a good sn so that's what I came up with.

Also sorry for going back to that comment that was deleted. I wasn't aware it was deleted in between the time I was reading and when I finally posted.

I thought it was pretty clear that he wasn't just talking about resources and "Oh my God if people reproduce there won't be enough food for everyone!!!".

I read his point as - there's a cost to having kids and people can do bad things so it seems ridiculous to assume that the simple act of having a kids is inherently good. If someone that's a ****ty parent raises a kid that's significantly more likely to be a drain on society or worse a hardened criminal - that's not a net benefit to society.

Moderation is key. There is a fine line between facebook and your blog/twitter

I find it interesting that you folks think what you are doing is any different than what these FB people are doing. Why would you purposely expose yourself to something that frustrates you so much in the first place?

So you're saying we shouldn't take it seriously then?

Now think about what you've said about mia's posts and how they should be taken.

Ah, that must be where I'm confused.

The way I see it blog/twitter requires more self restraint than facebook. I see facebook as "friends and family" and blog/twitter as "the internet".

Dogs are fun and cute and a lot of people like them. I feel sorry for people if they get pissed off by seeing a picture of a cute dog. I mean think about that for a second. Dogs are supposed to be one of the rare things that almost always brings a smile to someone's face. If you can't deal with this you might consider seeking professional help.

The thing with stuff like pics of your dog is that lots of people upload pics to FB to share with one particular person or a few people, or just to have on FB, and it automatically gets posted to your newsfeed. I don't begrudge someone at all for that. It's the status updates that are ridiculous.

LOL I love the self-exploding logical progression of hater threads so much

You start off with a small, self-selecting ingroup of somewhat like-minded haters dumping on a mixture of annoying and innocuous human behavior

then as the chain gets longer it becomes more unstable: people don't want to post repeats, so more questionable objects are dragged in to be hated upon

finally the whole enterprise dissolves into mass chaos as too many participants find their own behaviors or behaviors they value being brought into the zone of hatred

some slink away as an awkardness akin to hypocrisy washes over them, others continue to fight pointless nitty debates about where exactly the boundaries of the hateable should fall

...

these threads would be more sustainable and human if people focused on posting FUNNY or ENTERTAINING **** from FB (and some did), as opposed to everyday stuff followed by holier-than-thou ranting
