I can just imagine someone who actually had suffered through the school of hard knocks posting this ironic hipster gibberish as their facebook status to accrue respect through their vacuous and superficial horde of facebook friends.

"ironic hipster gibberish" seems inaccurate in most cases. More like "stupid white-trash posturing"

One just posted a link to "An Ode to Teachers" and raised his proverbial internet glass to all his coworkers. Same guy spent a month or so bitching and posting about the school district not giving them a raise, complains about not having any money, but "wanted to relax" all summer rather than work summer school (or get another job).

Gah, the derail that won't die. The last one that I was unfortunate enough to start wound up being spun off into its own thread.

I wasn't too clear, but the focus of my annoyance was the "we are teachers and we are angels from heaven" attitude.

So this one WAS annoying, but now is just kind of sad. Friend of mine posted a LOT, and pretty much every post is about his "beautiful wife," e.g.:

Quote:
wow the summer is flyin by finally have a weekend at home with nothing to do but spend time with my beautiful wife
Over. And over. And over again. Then he stopped. Today his status changed to "divorced" with this:

Quote:
marriage is over........no more crazy bar fly women for me
Quote:
not much to be sad over when everyone but u knows ur wife is foolin around

They spelled 3 words correctly. I hope by "class" she doesn't mean college. And if so, I hope it's not being subsidized.

pseudo-intellectual indeed

Reminds me of one day when I was in class, I was about 11 or so, and the teacher is going on about "You guys are complaining about school, I'm coming here every day just like you guys etc." and I made the mistake of saying "yeah but you get paid"

Teacher literally got in front of my face (while I was still sitting in my chair, she bent down a bit) and started yelling at me saying it makes her furious to hear that, goes on yelling about working longs hours, getting paid little etc.

I can totally see this teacher making every one of these status updates

"Well when they stop paying you but you're still coming here every day because you're legally required to attend, then we'll be in the same boat."

When a simple observation makes someone furious, there's a good deal of delusional thinking going on. Reality isn't welcome.

From a married girl nobody can stand:

Quote:
"Where would you go"?? Scenario: You are in Italy and have 4 days left for vacation. Which country would you choose to spend the rest of your time exploring (during the early part of December): Switzerland, Austria, Greece, or Germany, and why did you choose that country?
Responses include:
Quote:
Greece. 1) one of the most beautiful places on earth (so i hear) 2) they need your money 3) by helping them with your money you will also help the world economy
Quote:
Germany. Oktoberfest! What else do you need?
Note that she'll be there in December

And nobody responded to this (imo) gem.
Quote:
I don't know I feel really neutral about each of them.....I guess Switzerland

JayTeeMee I don't see anything wrong with those except maybe the Oktoberfest one. But aren't there plenty of beer gardens in Germany where they pretend it's Oktoberfest all year long?

The Swiss comment is actually funny if she did it on purpose. Other than that her comments are abominations.

Also...there is nothing worse than talking to a girl at a bar or whatever and finding out she is a teacher. She will go on about it for a while...and then I have to kiss her ass for being a hero or end the conversation. I'm ashamed to admit that if she is cute I always do the former.

You realize it's not the same person making the responses or the original status update right?

Well not if the Oktoberfest poster was considering the places where they pretend it's Oktoberfest all year (but I said that one was bad if not).

And there's nothing technically untrue about the Greece post. They *do* need your money. And if they collapse it *will* hurt the world economy. Also it seems likely to me that poster was being semi-ironic. Anyone with that level of knowledge of the world economy is generally not going to be earnestly pushing you to go to Greece for those reasons. I could see any 2p2er making that post and meaning it in the same ironic vein as the Switzerland post.

Since this our most active FB thread, OT question:

You're friends with person A and person B, they are mutual FB friends. You have person B totally blocked from seeing your wall/status updates etc, person A writes on your wall and it has the "Person A has Posted on ______'s wall" in their feed. Person A does not have person B blocked from anything. Is this that tidbit visible to person B or does it auto hide it because you have B blocked from all that?
