This is why I asked because it sure seems like he was detained to me?

Re: 'I talked/didn't talk to the cops.' Your story.

At 10% yes you shut up. If you are connected in any way or have committed unrelated crimes yes you shut up.

People seem to think that the rejection of "never talk" implies that I must believe "always talk". You can use some sense when evaluating the situation.

Thread keeps on giving. You have no idea how law enforcement works outside of the tiny world you live in. You live in the above ground part of Metropolis, it's nice up there. Don't pretend you don't what it is like underground though. That would be silly.

As someone with no real exposure to your posts, I have no idea what you are on about. Are you a hoodrat or something? Are most people posting itt not upper middle class/+ suburbanite white/Asian north Americans?

If you are a hoodrat, don't ever talk to the cops. I'm fine with that advice. That isn't this threads demographic.

Why do you keep strawmanning when we are responding specifically to the claim that no one should ever talk, which means using our own situations to explain why it is not a bad thing to just answer the questions. Yes if you are some thug with past convictions in a sketchy part of town hanging out with other criminals then theres a higher chance you will go in for something you didnt do.

we get it already

Looks like George Zimmerman just lost his lawyers partly because he talked to the cops.

great link. zimmerman is a perfect example of an innocent bystander with no involvement in anything who got in hot water by unnecessarily answering questions.

I'm no hoodrat. But you're right about demographic problems itt. Upperclass white people has far less to worry about than everyone else. Someone like Henry does not need to worry about **** when talking to the cops ldo.

not really im not upper class by any means but im as squeaky clean as they come. 42 vet self employed dont drink or do drugs but ive had bs issues that has this republican leery of law enforcement.

but not only myself but my attorney who in his spare time is a law prof at campbell law has had a bs issue that got lots of press here in the state.

We've discussed both innocent and guilty people ITT but thanks anyway for that insightful contribution.

I don't know you personally, but there are a lot of other factors that impact this. I agree with you, but this crowd is not buying the theory that these guys ever push the rules ever.

Here is something else for everyone else to think about. Let's say that you're unknowingly a part of an illegal operation at work. You've done nothing wrong, but there is a chance you might get ****ed either way. Now the state will come at you and try and get you to give up as much information as possible, possibly implicate yourself and not get any deals whatsoever if they can. And you might not even know you're doing it. Not because they are evil or breaking laws, they are just doing their jobs as best they can(generally they are pretty damn good at this). The sooner you get someone on your side who knows what they are doing the faster you can realize you may have valuable information that can keep you free or reduce a possible prison sentence.

Re: 'I talked/didn't talk to the cops.' Your story.

I recently got pulled over on my way home from dinner with my wife. There is a bridge I have to pass on my way home and the speed limit there is usually 45 mph. Well they are doing construction there and its now dropped to 35 mph. Of course no one is out there working or anything and they had some cop down at the end of the bridge hiding in the bushes and he pulls me over for doing 47 mph coming through the bridge. Lame yes but the guy was a total dick when he got to my truck. I seriously think he may have been a rookie or something but anyway here is how it all went down...

Cop comes up to my truck...shines his light into my side mirror in an attempt to blind me almost. Then asks me in the most dickish way if I knew why I was pulled over and I said I am sure I was going a little fast on the bridge. He then asks for my driver license, insurance and registration which I provide and then proceeds to ask my wife for her drivers license which I found odd. I have never heard of that being done nor seen it done when I have been in a car with someone getting pulled over. So I politely asked him what his reasoning was for needing to see my wife's drivers license because I have never seen that done before and he asks me if I am getting an attitude with him...I reply no sir I just want to know the reasoning behind needing my wife's DL when she isn't the one driving. He then radios in for back up saying I am being belligerent with him and 3 other cops cars show up.

****ing ridiculous.
