I did the same thing at a casino out of a bud light bottle... not as bad was just coughing up blood. It hurt to swallow for like 3 weeks and i had to get a scope that went up my nose down my throat so they could see what happened. Was told wasnt that bad of a cut and id be fine....

im with jetto. too big a company, too obvious a case, too unpleasant of an experience; this is essentially like finding a lottery ticket in the bottom of your ice tea that requires two days in the hospital and a bloody anus to cash in.

Sorry guys for the lack of updates. I was released from the hospital two days ago, but without the IVs and what not have been extremely exhausted (probably combined with the lack of sleep I got while in the hospital) and I slept all day yesterday. They gave me a packet of information along with all my medical stuff. I made copies of all my medical info today and I am dropping it off to my attorney.

Tomorrow I will have to check back into the hospital for some further examination. Thanks to everyone ITT who was helpful and supportive. I'll continue to update this thread after my next visit, and on my battle vs AZ Iced Tea if I'm able to.

Have you tried eating bananas and white bread?

I got pokemon on a DS emulator, but I have lost two files already because I'm a noob at trying to save.

Did you have to drink that awful borax,boron (white chalky drink) before the colonoscopy, or was there another option because of the immediate situation?

I think its barium and its for uppergi. colonoscopy is lower and they clean you first.

edit: I think they may do barium enemas then xray in some cases, but you don't drink it in that case, obv

I don't mean to threadjack, but it's barium, and it's the nastiest thing ever. I had to drink two really big banana flavored barium shakes a few years ago for a CT scan and now I can't stand the smell or taste of bananas. Gah. Of course, I didn't bleed internally either, so at least I have that.

Couldn't remember the name of it but yeah, I've had a colonoscopy before, and I recall having a home cleansing liquid to drink @ home the night before, and still having to drink the other crap the morning of. I remember trembling, knees shaking etc. b/c it was so putrid and could barely get half of the first sip down. Then the nurse comes over, draws a line on the bottle and tells me "you need to drink down to here."

Yeah, he would have seriously damaged the value of his case. You have a duty to mitigate your damages - that means if you are hurt, you must seek treatment.

Here is a rundown of how the damages might work here:

1. Special damages. These are out-of-pocket expenses. Your insurance company will have a lien on your case; you basically will be collecting for them for what they spent on your medicals. Your lawyer can usually get them to take 30 - 40% less. That money saved belongs in your recovery pool - not to your lawyer.

2. Pain-and-suffering. Assuming your situation is soon reconciled and you have no long-term injury, you will get recompensed foer your troubles. This is pretty open; you very well can get less than 20k. You might get more, but I don't see 5 figures.

3. Economic: lost income.

4. Punitive damages - don't see it here.

The main leverage you have is that AZ will probably pay a premium for your silence. It's bad PR.

Uhh, they just went over the possibilities of what could have happened, but they didn't point to anything and say this is what would have happened. They discussed a few possibilities ranging from passing it on my own to death and talked about the probability. Death was <1%.
