So I saw the how much do you drink poll which made me remember I was always curious how much people in different cultures have to drink before getting drunk/wasted.
I'll get the ball rolling, atm i've lost most of my drinking ability and get decently tipsy after 3 pints of beer/2 glasses of wine or really just a cpl of shots. Wasted is prob 4-5 pints+2-3 shots, once I reach this point I'm likely stopping and switching to water
con: lightweight
pro: vvv cheap to get nicely drunk
i'm past the point of getting drunk until i puke, it's not even the puking, just that level of drunkenness doesn't seem necessary, it doesn't add to my enjoyment. basically, diminishing returns enjoyment-wise with each drink past the third.
it's prob also a culture thing, over here we start drinking in highschool. like freshman year of HS. I'm pretty sure i could drink more in junior year HS than I can now. By the end of college it's pretty much out of our system. in my social circle we go out as a group at the end of the week and usually have a couple too many drinks but never to the point we're wasted anymore, been there done that sooo many times it's just become old/boring/nonsensical.
Come to think of it the most wasted I've gotten in the past 6 months was the night before an interview, we hung out at a friend's place and i literally accidentally got wasted after having two shots(had some amount of beers/weed prior) of some devil spirit that wreaked havoc on my head
in my expirience a lot of stereotypes hold true when it comes to drinking.
i am german and i literaly cant get drunk on beer, sure i get tipsy but i could be pounding beers all day without getting real drunk.
is that pints or like 12oz bottles? b/c 12oz bottles are like ~16 pints and i drank 10 in 6hrs when i was 14 (did get waken up by puking on myself a bit later but meh, my bad for going to bed an hr after drinking 10 pints)
By fair means, I can drink one bottle of whisky max, but am still able to walk on less than half of the foot-walks. Only did this twice in my life, though. One time, I ate 500g of ground-beef with nothing but onions while emptying a whole bottle.
Before I puke or fall down, I simply sleep.
If there are sports I care about on tv, I can knock out a case of beer on a weekend afternoon-night when called upon. I don't feel that well the next day, but I don't get a hangover either.
In college it took at least a 12 pack before id start to really feel the effects, but I don't drink much at all anymore and I can get pretty ripped on a couple of good beers. Its actually pretty nice, having to drink a gallon of liquid before you get a good buzz is a **** ton of work.
Ever since I got old enough to experience the 2 day hangover, I stopped getting blackout drunk. Its like onion said, that level of drunkeness doesnt add anything and its just massively -EV at that point. I quit well before the puke stage these days. Prolly been 5 years or so since ive passed out next to the toilet I think.
I used to drink 11/12 pints in a night easy and wake up the next day fine (when I was 18-22) now (29) if I have more than 6 in a night I wake up with a bad hangover which pretty much ruins my whole day :-(

Beer seems like a horribly inefficient choice if your goal is to get drunk.
i never puke from drinking, i am not saying that to be tough or brag, i just don't do it. I never have, i think i have a circuit missing in my body. And its not from lack of consumption. So i just pass out when i drink too much.
the most i ever drank was on spring break senior year of high school in mexico. I raged all night, no clue how much i drank but would be very surprised if it was less than 20 drinks, then at 5am a poured a fifth of tequila into two cups and slammed one, waited ten minutes and slammed another. The next thing i remember was waking up on a public bus in Cancun around noon with the bus driver yelling at me to get off the bus.

If you don't remember anything, maybe you puked and can't remember it. Maybe you've been puking all along. Maybe you've always been the caretaker.
There was a proposed prop bet here a while back. A guy said he could drink 50 Coors Lights in 24 hours.
That doesn't seem difficult. I've never been much of a beer person and I drink a lot less now than I used to but I could do this even now. 15 years ago this would be a heavier day but still a pretty common occurrence.
