A human can live 4-6 weeks without food if they have water. Beer does contain some vitamins so it would probably extend that a little, unless dehydration sets in from the alcohol. You wouldn't need to get drunk, you could drink one a day.
My guess is either 6-8 weeks or 1-2 weeks depending on the dehydration factor which may or may not occur if you were only allowed beer.

edit: beer + plus water would be over 6 weeks for sure.

just beer you die within month(dehydration) , but beer + water I bet you could survive indefinetly.

A) I highly doubt that beer isn't a net positive to your hydration, though I'm not gonna say for sure.

B) If dehydration is a factor I highly doubt you would dehydrate in a month rather than a matter of days.

C) Indefinitely seems verrrry unlikely. You're consuming a lot of alcohol if you want to maintain any reasonable # of calories. I'd say a year would be extremely impressive.

The most important aspect of the question, imo, hasn't been addressed. Are we assuming theoretical perfect execution or what would actually happen? Because in real life I think at some point you just start binging from a combination of being crazy, hungry, and an alcoholic.

If there's no vitamin C in beer you've got a good case of scurvy coming, btw.

WTF are you talking about??? You absolutely cannot survive indefinitely off of Beer+Water. Beer has very little of the stuff you need to live.

Drinking 2000 calories of beer a day can't be good for the old liver. And before some alky starts bragging about how in college they drank a case of Natty a day for a whole spring break, that was beer+food. You'd be drinking on an empty stomach every time.

Making up your calories seems the least of your worries, essential amino acids and essential fatty acids would be the problem but i have no idea how long you could last without them.

what you need to do is learn how to brew your own beer, then make beers with lots of different proteins/fats/vitamins in them. Then you could win $$$$$$$ in a prop bet.

I'm assuming there are other variables to consider also. I may be wrong, but I would think that a dark stout-Guiness coming to mind first, but there are other, better ones out there- would keep you going, nutritionally, longer than Bud Light.

The real question here, of course, is at what % alcohol does a liquid begin to have a net dehydrating effect? You obviously couldn't drink 12% wine indefinitely. I dunno about 3.9% beer.

Just to try and out-nit, I disagree. Indefinite does not mean infinite. If you can't definitely say exactly when someone will die, then they will be surviving indefinitely because you haven't managed to define when they'll die.

So then everyone survives indefinitely including the person who is going to die in about 2 or 3 weeks or whatever from the beer only diet.

No, because by stating 2 weeks you are defining their survival prospects. That's basically the point of this thread: to try and define how long they'll survive. If we decide that the beer-only diet won't kill them, their survival will be undefined and therefore indefinite.

Definitely seems like it the next day.
