Re: How fast do you read?
303... but was confused. I started reading at my normal novel pace (which I'd say is slow) and then thought I should try to read faster. Got all 3 questions correct.
I took a train from Brussels to Amsterdam with a friend and the friend read an entire novel. That's over 100 pages/hr. To me that's really fast as a leisurely pace.

Re: How fast do you read?
You read 655 words per minute.
That makes you 162% faster than the national average.
Got the 3 questions correct. Cold, that *feels* like about as fast as I can read and follow fiction with any sort of whimsical writing, but I'm sure once I've settled in after a few minutes and gotten into a zone that I'd get to a significantly higher speed.

Knowing this about yourself, there is no reason for you to not re-read your internet posts before hitting submit. Everybody would appreciate it.

Re: How fast do you read?
302 wpm. 3/3. I know I am not a fast reader. Especially cruddy, boring text like that.
I think I read and retain non-fiction text better and quicker. But more of those words are utilitarian and not so beautiful and descriptive so I think it makes sense.

Re: How fast do you read?
248 wpm, 1% slower.
I typically read about 30 pages of a paperback novel in an hour. But I like reading slowly. It helps me appreciate reading each and every wonderful word that goes into OOT's posts.
Plus the passage I read was not terribly well written, with odd sentence constructions and what not which slowed me down a little more than my usual snail's pace.

Re: How fast do you read?
I thought this was fun when I saw somebody link it on Facebook. Tried it a couple times, think I had something like 750, 800 and 950 words per minute. All of those were fairly forced and sloppy (I got 2 of 3 questions right each time) and so that's probably not representative, but on the other hand I often feel like I get in the zone when reading for long stretches where that rate is actually plausible.

It depends. One benefit to reading fast is that you can read more. Stuff that merits closer reading you can go back and go over again later.

Re: How fast do you read?
260 for me. Couldn't believe I was above the natural average, as I feel like I'm the slowest reader in the world. Part of that is that I'm pretty OCD though, and very insistent on getting what I just read before moving on. Same thing with typing tests (I'm way faster at typing) where I simply can't resist going back and fixing any typos that arise along the way even when you're not supposed to.

yeah, I'm the same, I feel like I'm closer to being able to recite the thing than answering those 3 questions. I was surprised by how obvious they were.

Re: How fast do you read?
467, I consider myself to be very fast reader (non-native though). Didn't speed read since I interpreted the instructions like that, proceeded carefully word by word.
