Mirror for makeup. What do girls want? Mirror for makeup. What do girls want?

My girlfriend doesn't like when I fog up the bathroom mirror, and I like hot showers and usually get up before her! But now she's away, and I'd like to take the opportunity to surprise her with a proper mirror setup in the bedroom.. Myself I only use mirrors to shave and admire my bedhead, so I need some pointers from the experts! (= those who use makeup)

First, the mirror itself. I have a 24" x 30" in mind, is that a good size? Should it be able to turn? What about side-mirrors, like a cabinet?

Then some lightning. I'm pretty much set on a mirror-height fluorescent lamp on each side. What I'm wondering is how bright, and how "white" (temperature.. like warm yellowish-white or neutral white-white) it should be.

And last, the work area. Will a simple wall-mounted shelf do? Is 40" x 8" big enough? Is extra storage space needed?

Any input is welcome! Thanks

Well actually...if you got a window in the kitchen and its lighter inside than outside, you got yourself a ready made mirror.

Spend the money on yourself.

first gay response: i bought my gf one of those makeup mirrors that are the little circle with the light around the outside for like a hundo at BB&B and she loves the damn thing (similar to the ones you see at the hotel)

girls are weird, there are definitely cheaper ones too but this was anti-fog, different light settings, etc.

Just use a blow dryer on the mirror. It takes a few seconds to dry and warm up the steamed mirror.

Yay, thanks for 'gay' response! I'm definitely doing this because I think it's +EV. If she likes it enough she'll thank me in countless different awesome ways.. every time she sees it.. for weeks!

no but seriously, don't do this, i understand the impulse but extravagant presents are just a bad idea if you want to keep her interested in you

Pro Tip: Rub some shaving cream on the mirror before showering, it will keep it from fogging up completely for about 3 days then some mild fogging for the rest of the week. You don't even need much just enough to wipe on wipe(clean) off with a napkin or your shower towel.

Also don't waste your shaving cream just go get a $0.99 family size Barabasol bottle that will last you months. If you set up a makeup mirror, you will just be putting the pussy on a pedestal and you should never do that.

Alright, alright. I could be wrong. Just make sure you think about how the mirror will fit into the room, not just the mirror itself. The fluorescent lamp bit makes me worry a little bit, it makes me think of a big setup that will dominate the room too much unless your bedroom is really big.

Is one of those little light up magnifying makeup mirrors not enough? They do everything, afaik, though I'm no expert, and some don't fog up, right?

Lol at the people in this thread who are apparently unable to keep a girl without playing games. Sounds like a great life.
