Underrated: hot sauce on popcorn. When you take the bag out of the microwave pour a bunch in there and shake it all up. Its pretty good. Also great on pizza.

i don't know if this is just old wives tales or science fact, but i'd heard that hot sauce and peppers raise your metabolism, making you less likely to be obese.

Once you get used to the heat it has a flavour, which works in tandem with all the other flavours LDO. I like to put chilies in any sandwich I make, spicy mouth + nice cup of tea FTW..

Then 5 years later - BAMMM, hit by a bus.

Housenuts, I guess my question was more why would you pour tabasco into your eye than a physical description of you doing it. You seem to think saying you were drunk explains it, but I drink a lot and can't ever remember ever being seized by the urge to blind myself.

If you're really serious about your hot sauce and aren't afraid to die, it doesn't get any hotter than pure capsaican crystals. Might be better suited for weaponizing than as a cooking ingredient. 16 million SHU!

I'll put some tabasco sauce on a burger every now and then, that's about it for me. I was just curious about the extremes people go to with hot sauce, and it appears pure capsaican crystals would have to be the absolute limit. So about the sauces listed on this page: At what point on the Scoville units scale does a sauce move out of the range of being something you'd actually want to put on food (other than as a dare)?

I had a bottle of 1 000 000+ that I used over the course of a couple years whenever I made chili...as far as something I would put on food (hot sauce + cheese + crackers is my favourite snack) I would likely stay in the low 100 000's. This stuff has amazing flavour and heat and is probably around the 100-200 000 mark.
