30 million people live in caves in China.

This is definitely my Retirement Plan C or D.

OP, have you read El Sapo's cross country trip report? Seems like what he did is exactly what you want to do.

Most poor people in Laos live in trees.

amazin - depending on how tall you are, an older Honda CR-V would probably work out just fine for you given that you don't want to go with a van.

Robbing a bank has got to be the dumbest idea ever. You usually get very little (~$5k) and you bring in the FBI. Posters and TV coverage.

I thought marknfw meant he'd retire in federal custody.

No one bothered by the extra unwanted attention from the police a black guy living in a car might get?

I don't think many cities allow you to sleep in your car in public streets. Perhaps in a parking lot, but that may seem suspicious. Plus, if it is hot or cold you need to turn the car on which would be strange to keep it running the entire night.

Is this your first day on the internet?

On my bike trip we generally stayed at the State Parks. Along the coast they are like every 20 miles and they often had showers. In Oregon a primitive camp site is like $10 a night. That kind of thing and a gym membership at a national chain should go a long way to covering showering.

A regular place to poop is a problem though if you're particular about that. You can get a bucket toilet and sawdust, but you gotta deal with it and you aren't going to have a spot for humanure operation. City Halls are often good places to poop. Lowe's isn't bad.

I think OP should go out with homeless women while on his adventure. After his date, he could just drop them off any place.

Where is the OP living? In the States, idk how far you are going to travel if a Bicycle is your transportation.

Except for the freezing to death part, the Nordic countries would be good for this.

Hotel lobbies are great if you aren't too crunchy.

You're the guy surprised TheBayAreaBeast was getting so angry, which is why I wondered if you're new to the internet.

Mets is in portland living $400/mo with a friend. He wants to move to Seattle and doesn't know anyone there. Thus the thread. Like most mets threads, he fails to provide any or many details till he's probed.

This is OOT. <2% of the people here aren't particular about that.

These are OK suggestions. Malls are decent. Any large supermarket chains are also excellent choices. GOAT location is of course [redacted].

The obvious answer is to pooping and showering is to go back in time 25 years, be close to a university, and look more or less like a university student. That also got you access to quite a few dorm lounges, and occasionally cafeteria food if you were clever.

It's funny when I was looking for a place to buy in the town I am in now I was always really reassured we were making the right move wanting to buy here after I used a public toilet in a park as they were always in fantastic condition, very clean etc. I think it's a pretty good indicator of what an area is like and this isn't a particularly affluent town.

I went to a big University and there was one bathroom on campus, very out of the way, which may well have been the only bathroom I pooped in on campus the whole time I was there. Very very low traffic. But, that was back in my youth when I was more like the people of OOT who can't poop around other people. As long as the toilet is clean now I'm ok. I don't care much if there are people around. Never restaurants though. I don't think people should poop at restaurants (barring emergencies I reckon).

I would have though any poop was somewhat of an emergency.
