Here's a story for you:

When I was in high school(late 90s), about 30 kids from a well-known and respected local private school busted up a party some kids from another local private school were having with bats and ****. Kids went to the hospital, I don't think criminal charges were ever brought, and I would bet dollars to donuts that most of the kids involved went on to college and are now leading normal lives. It was just typical high school bull****, which seemed normal to me growing up, but maybe it is different depending on where you live.

Thinking about it more though, you might be right. These particular kids probably don't go to college.

The kids that acted like that at my high school did not go to college. Maybe community college or a small liberal arts college, but nothing I would consider reputable. The vast majroity did not go to any other type of higher degree.

That's the big difference. These kids aren't walking away from this without repercussions. Gonna be hard to explain this on a college application. Especially if they see jail time.

I'm happy that stupid girl is charged as well. She was clearly the dumbest of the bunch. The 17yo getting charged as an adult is a nice added bonus.

Re: "Helpless Asian man" attacked - Just Wow.

are charges like this a trend in the justice system or is this unique because it got national media attention? If theyre a trend I like it, but I dont know if its realistic to start charging kids who get in fights with criminal offenses and if they do then they need to do it for all cases and not just stuff that catches media attention.

As for this "beating," it was pretty light, especially since it was 7 on 1. I witnessed much more devestating 1 on 1 fights in highschool, some involving knives, razor blades, and chains and the harshest penalty anyone ever got was a week of out of school suspension. Even as a high school kid I thought it was bull**** that the penalty was so light. However, I also remember thinking that the penalties were stupid because the kids who cut someone with razors, hit someone in the back of the head with a chain, or curb stomped someone knocking teeth out (all 3 of which I witnessed in high school) got the same amount of time as the kids that got punched and didnt even swing back before teachers broke it up. I feel like the damage inflicted should play a role in the punishment rather than having stupid one size fits all rules.

It's messed up, but crap like this has been going on since the beginning of time. It's just that social media brings retards to light a lot easier.

Do we know that the stupid girl that made those response videos is the girl that was charged?

I take it the stupid girl was the one filming it. So sad that they were not all charged as adults. The girl should have been charged of one count of being completely stupid.
