I'm seriously considering doing this. Put in all my stats, with a $50 bet per month for 12 months they are offering me a $1750 payout to lose 40 pounds, so $1150 profit.

You have to lose 10% of your body fat at least so even a person who is 6'4 150 would have to go to 6'4 135 which seems absurd. Why doesn't it adjust for height and weight?
I actually glossed over your height - I was 5'11" 245ish so a good deal fatter than you. But still I lost over 3x your target in 6 months.

And someone who is 6'4" 150 doesn't need to lose weight - they need to gain it. Losing 23 lbs in 6 months at your height and weight though seems extremely trivial. The odds are like that because it is very easy. I mean I haven't read their FAQs but it sounds like you just weigh yourself on video so you can just angle shoot water weight and only have to lose like 10 actual pounds at most in the 6 months. I guess it sucks the money has to be in escrow the full 6 months but an 11%ish return in 6 months risk free if the site is legit is solid.

As for the last part - wow, does it really not change the odds for height and weight? So a 300 lber who loses 30 in 6 months gets the same payout? That does seem pretty dumb then. Regardless, the bet is free money for you

Ya this seems like free money. I assume there are enough people with no will power to make this profitable for them too.

Mullen: I'm assuming they take all the factors into account when coming up with odds and is why they changed from the same deal for everyone format.

Min: I doubt there will be lots of teams of 5 people where all of them lose almost 17% of their weight in 12 weeks.

There is a guy over on the bodybuilding forum that went from like 750 to 350 in just over 1.5 years. He could have made bank.

10% in 6 months lol? That is so easy. Anyone that can follow a workout routine and practice some discipline can do this. Also 30 to 25 bro sounds easy over a year

Its 3 threads long but pretty crazy. Here is a spreadsheet of his progress since he was able to be weighed(in the beginning he didnt even fit in his shower and there wasnt a single scale that could weigh him so its an estimated starting weight of like 750)

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...wHk/edit#gid=0

And here is a pic of his progress:

Spoiler:

He is a huge inspiration. Sometimes when I feel lazy and want to skip gym I think about this guy working hard and it motivates me.

Sure, but you actually have to either workout more or eat differently both of which are generally more time consuming and less pleasurable than my current lifestyle. Thus, I'm downgrading my lifestyle to make a trivial amount of money. I would be much more interested in betting $30k to win $3,333 than betting $3k to win $333.

Except the company would get crushed if they took $30k worth of action on trivial weight loss amounts.

The point of the bet is for motivation and getting healthy - the money you're making is a bonus. If you are content with being overweight then just don't do it or bet with your friends as you'll likely get better odds and not risk as much.

Man, I wish I had known about this. Finished a weight loss bet a year and a half ago with a buddy and went from 230 to 158 in six months. If I had made a $100 bet/month on Healthy Wage that I would have done that, I would have made $1,150. Obviously that's hindsight and I 1) probably wouldn't have bet as much, and 2) wouldn't have thought I could lost that much, but being a degenerate I would have bet something pretty aggressive.

Verification process is pretty in depth, but this is still really manipulable without cheating the system. I just started another weight loss bet (I gained 10 pounds back over the past 1.5 years, plus being short was still fat at 160), and ate a bunch of carbs the week before weigh in, and drank a ton of water. Went low carb immediately after, and dropped 10 pounds of water weight in three days. Back end can be gamed as well. Buddy from my first weight loss bet dropped 12 pounds of water weight in five days using MMA weight manipulation. If you can get past the whole "might die" thing, pretty easy to do.

Easy as **** to game this just like they do on The Biggest Loser:

1) Weigh in with a massive amount of water weight

2) ???

3) Weigh in dehydrated as ****

4)Profit

Losing 23 pounds would be trivially easy for you, especially when you take into account the pre-weigh-in salt and water gorging. But yes, you'd probably have to do such restrictive things as not drinking 50 beers on the weekend. C'est la vie.

seems like they can void results on suspicion of manipulation through excessive pre-weigh in hydration and dehydration or any sort of binging or purging. thats not exactly reassuring since there is no way for them to prove either of them. also would suck if they called you in for a confirmation weigh in a day after you submitted results and you had already rehydrated, eaten, and had 12 hours to get into a place to test.

I'd be very wary of them for this reason. Basically means they can decide not to pay anyone they decide not to pay (and I assume they would keep the amount you'd bet as well).

they can audit you for regular photos after the fact so you have to maintain these, but not provide them upfront which could also harm your chances with fluctuating water weight on the ends.
