Re: Hardcore/Metal/Punk Need some new stuff

Started listening to Every Time I Die, enjoying it... Sound is very similar to Cancer Bats.

It's an all-time great, but I think Ax To Fall is a little better, but not as meaningful.

Started listening to Converge (Axe to Fall), vocals are not great, but good sound overall. Trying to get into Opeth, but just don't understand all the acclaim..

Re: Hardcore/Metal/Punk Need some new stuff

When it comes to Converge, you just gotta let Jacob do his thing. The Saddest Day is still their best song and he sounds borderline retarded in some parts. But, the fire is always there so I love it. And live.... The MA crowds back in the day would destroy venues.

I never got into Opeth either. Have friends who just worship them, but I can't get into it at all.

Re: Hardcore/Metal/Punk Need some new stuff

i like opeth, but i skip their songs about 90% of the time they come up on shuffle. It takes a lot for me to want to dedicate 9 minutes to a song...

if you like the sound of heavy opeth stuff, but dont have the patience for it check out a band called In Mourning. good stuff...

I think Jane Doe is probably your best bet for intro Converge. One of my favorite albums of all time.

Just found Baroness, similar to Mastodon with a lot of extended instrumentals.

Re: Hardcore/Metal/Punk Need some new stuff

Listening to Converge, Ave to Fall a lot recently. To me the track is just raw, especially the intro. Reminds me of going to concerts and listening to opening bands that are not tuned properly and I'm not familiar with their sound (I require multiple listens to enjoy something new).

Any recommendations on something similar? Thanks
