Re: Hardcore/Metal/Punk Need some new stuff
The Crown - awesome death metal band. They don't exist anymore though.
Testament - old thrash band. Their newest album - The Formation of Damnation - is great. Check it out.
Decapitated - polish death metal. 'Nuff said.

Another old man checking in who doesn't know nothing 'bout any of those new fangled bands you list, but this Born Against collection is the best hardcore album I know of...
Born Against - The Rebel Sound of Sh#t and Failure

Wide range of stuff there, but let us know what you like and we can go from there...

Amongst Us
Liar
Lair of the Minotaur
Cataract (older is better)
Blessing The Hogs
Deathbound
Haymaker
Hurtlocker
Aborted
Pig Destroyer
That doesn't include death metal. Can recommend tons of that too.

Re: Hardcore/Metal/Punk Need some new stuff
Good thread, I was just going to ask about something similar. I've started listening to punk kinda stuff and I'm really starting to dig it. I like more upbeat songs with a nice beat, and I definitely don't like heavy screamy/angry stuff. My favorites so far have been Ramones, The Clash, Dead Kennedys, X, and I've listened to a little Black Flag, though from what I've heard of them so far they seem a little too screamy for me. Any other recs?

Re: Hardcore/Metal/Punk Need some new stuff
Thanks for the heads up! I listened to some Wire stuff and it sounds right up my alley. Some of the Fugazi stuff is pretty good too, but I definitely like Wire better so far.

Also there was a metalish/hardcoreish band from a few years ago that had one single that they made a video for that was on headbangers ball a couple of times. The video had puppets.
Also also, listen to In Flames. Because, you know, no matter what kind of music you like, everyone should like In Flames.
