I used tylenol generically, looking back at the ingredients, it actually uses aspirin (not sure if this is better/worse).

Drink water while you are drinking.
Before you go to bed, drink a casein protein shake or at least eat something with meat in it ( See Article - Bacon sandwich really does cure a hangover. )

Gatorade will help if your electrolytes are low, but this really shouldn't happen unless you're on a ****ed up diet or a multiday bender. You'll know it because your arms will hurt for no reason at all.

I don't use painkillers at all because I don't trust myself to take the right one while I'm still drunk.

After a multi-day bender - I am currently on the wagon but am not too far removed from them, especially when I was semi-unemployed recently - my solution was what I would call a "soft landing", which entailed drinking lightly on the last day, enough to keep the hangover/shakes at bay but not enough to actually get drunk. That generally led to a less hellacious hangover, if any at all.

That is a more grande version of "just have a beer/bloody mary in the morning", but it's the same general idea.
This does work quite well, but sometimes it's hard to find that sweet spot for your soft landing day where you've had enough to get a good night's sleep, but a small enough amount to where you wake up feeling like a person the next day.

I get horrible hangovers, have tried many of the solutions listed here and nothing works, usually because I just puke up whatever I consume.

I have had some success with prevention though. I drink an entire 32 gatorade plus even more water followed by a few aspirin. This will require me to pee in the night, at which time I will drink yet more water. If I actually follow through with this plan I am usually nearly hangover free.

Not a cure, but maybe an interesting prevention:

I had a bunch of friends in town for my wedding on Saturday. A long, uninteresting story short- at some point in the weekend it became funny to casually drop skittles in someone else's drink. By the time of the actual wedding on Saturday many of my buddies and groomsmen had multiple packs of skittles on them. Everybody got really loaded and everyone got "skittlebombed" a lot. The next morning they all attributed the lack of hangover to the skittles.

We used to intentionally do that to our own Mountain Dews when I was a kid as well.

Are you sure ibuprofen is fine to mix with alcohol? I've heard any pain killer is bad for the liver when alcohol is involved.

I would avoid taking pain killers while drinking if you can avoid it, the next morning just stick with the recommended dose. I'll say it again, excedrine is like a miracle drug for headaches for me. No other pain killer is as effective for headaches. That said it might vary per person.

Before you get drunk, make sure you have the following things:
1 bottle Vitamin Water XXX, chilled
1 can light beer, chilled
2 regular-strength aspirin

Upon waking up, consume all 3 ingredients as fast as possible. Helped me make 9am classes all throughout college without incident

Another problem that sometimes arises from this strategy is simply taking it too far and getting drunk all over again, which happens from time to time.

I remember one New Year's Day I showed up at a golf course so hungover my eyeballs were bleeding. Then another friend showed up in bad shape as well. I smuggled a handle of Seagram's 7 onto the course and we medicated ourselves with some 7&7s to make the pain go away. 4 1/2 hours and a half a handle later though we weren't hungover anymore, we were drunk again.

1. Drink as much water as you possibly can force down your throat
2. If you feel at all like you need to throw up, then don't fight it.
3. Eat something with a lot of carbs(Chipotle works great, Subway is good for a slightly healthier option.
4. Take advil/tylenol/etc.
5. Continue to drink as much water as you can.
6. Try to fall back asleep
7. Wake up
8. Sauna/really hot shower
9. More water

How many people sleep in after a night of drinking?

I always seem to wake up super early and unable to go back to sleep. Most of my friends tell me they usually sleep thru it.

I end up sleeping on and off throughout the whole day when i have a bad hangover. That approach always seems to make the hangover last longer for me, obviously i feel fine while asleep, but when i am awake i will still feel like **** well into the evening.

I'm a big pussy when it comes to hangovers, i don't get them often but when i do, I do nothing all day, including calling in sick from work if i have to. Pretty much the only sick time i take is the 2 or 3 days a year I am hungover during the week.

How many people out there have had hangovers that last for 2 days or more?

You are a true patriot sir.

(I've definitely thrown up consuming, but never thrown up from being hungover the next day.)

How do you drink enough for a 2-3 day hangover, but not enough for alcohol poisoning to occur?
