Drinking more alcohol actually gets rid of the hangover but then you face an even worse one later on.

If you drink very often like daily or 5/7 days of the week, you rarely ever get hangovers. The body is just used to them.
If you just stay drunk all the time while you're awake, you'll be good. Also, while sleeping, try to wake up every 2 hours or so and take 2-3 shots of your choice. No hangovers is easy.

We have a ramen noodle restaurant here in Vancouver that I go to if I'm having a rough morning on Sundays. Also powerade/advil.

I've never tried it, but the ice mask that Christian Bale uses in the beginning of 'Psycho' looks like it would help.

I always drink a beer after waking up with a hangover and it usually helps a little bit.

In my 30 years of heavy drinking I have found the following two methods to be the best for hangover avoidance. One that I use for when I have to go to work the next day is to drink enough before retiring for the evening so that I awaken still drunk. This allows me to avoid a headache. My coffee intake on these days is higher than usual and my diet tends to be a bit unhealthy as well, but these comforts help offset the bummer of gradually regaining sobriety throughout the day.

For when work the next day is a non issue then the choice is easy and much more fun. Start drinking immediately upon awakening. I am a big Bloody Mary fan but other drinks such as screwdrivers, mimosas or even beer will suffice. If your drink of choice is accompanied by a massive breakfast you will be well on your way to enjoying a fabulous day off.

Make sure you don't drink on an empty stomach. Before you go to sleep eat a solid snack (slice of pizza, etc.) and down a big glass of water. Fill it up again, then take advil along with half of the water. After that take a chewable peptol-bismol tablet and finish the water. Fill up the glass again and keep it by your nightstand to sip on every time you wake up. When you wake up to take a whiz a few hours later, you have to drink the rest of the water and more advil (that's important). Sleep late. Eat decent breakfast. Drink powerade/gatorade/etc.

Also, have any of you never thrown up from drinking? I've drinking my fair share just like any red-blooded American and have NEVER thrown up from drinking.

Prevention: Eat something and drink a ton of water but sometimes you are too drunk to remember to do it.

Cure: There is no real cure, alcohol will help, they do say it just postpones the hangover, but they also say a lot of a hangover is withdrawal so it seems to me alcohol in decreasing amounts should work just like when trying to wean someone off of an addiction.

Side note: for christ sake don't take a **** ton of pain killers. Your liver and kindeys are already working overtime and you want to take drugs that those organs really don't like anyway? Just take the recommended dose (i recommend excedrine for headaches). That is the reason they are trying to reduce the maximum dose of tylenol and pull drugs that have tylenol in it off the shelves because so many idiots overdose on it.

As others have mentioned, Pho is the real deal for curing hangovers.

Recently, I learned that this can help too.

While this is ldo on its face, it's not always true.

After a multi-day bender - I am currently on the wagon but am not too far removed from them, especially when I was semi-unemployed recently - my solution was what I would call a "soft landing", which entailed drinking lightly on the last day, enough to keep the hangover/shakes at bay but not enough to actually get drunk. That generally led to a less hellacious hangover, if any at all.

That is a more grande version of "just have a beer/bloody mary in the morning", but it's the same general idea.

im a big fan of this product lately.

a mix of alka seltzer, caffeine & tylonel, with citrus flavor. Drop two in a water, then chase with champagne/OJ is my standard plan on vacation.

I think part of it is age, the other part is that I'm not referring to a single day, I'm referring to several days in which my average consumption was in the area of a liter of booze or more. (Not a brag.)

Once again, like posted above, quit mixing alcohol and tyleonl! It is horrible for your liver and can lead to liver failure. Stick with ibuprofen.
